Star of David worn by Christians

Although some have claimed this is the star mentioned in Acts 7:43 (KJV: Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.) I cannot find conclusive proof.

However, can you quote scripture where David used a star as an insignia?

The only verse I know of that is in the Bible with the words star and David is Rev 22:16 and that is not about the "star of David" at all.

Yes and no on both Jewish and Baptist people. Some Baptists will be offended, others like me, won't. Some Jews will be offended, others won't. I wouldn't live my life worrying about who I am going to offend all the time or else you will be very inhibited. Just my opinion.

I have a lapel pin that has the American flag on one side and the Israeli flag (with Star of David) on the other side.

 

I have 3. They were gifts from my mom, purchased while they lived in Israel. They are neatly tucked in the sock drawer. I will cherish them for a long time, but haven't thought about wearing them.

 

I have that same lapel pin.

My wife has a necklace I bought her in Israel that has Jesus' name in the shape of the star of David. She has worn it for over 4 years and no one has indicated that they were offended.

My daughter has encountered someone from a sabbath-keeping Christian church, not Jews, who wears a SOD. They celebrate the feasts also. I think it is part of the "Black Israel" movement.

How old is the one who wants to wear it, and what is her reason?

 

Seeing how she wants to wear it along side the symbol of her faith, I would object to it. I think that even Paul the apostle would have objected to something like that, seeing how faced off with Peter for trying to Judaise the Gentiles.

When I wore one it was a star of David with a cross in the center.
While wearing it alone is *technically* fine, it can lead to misunderstandings. The Jews see the star of David as a symbol of Judaism, and are offended by the cross in the center as it represents Christ. In fact a few years ago on a Jewish site most of the members had an all out fit over the SOD being sold in a Jewish neighborhood with a cross on it. If she wears the star alone then, it may be understood by others as saying that she is of the Jewish faith, the one the rejects Christ.
Wearing it along with the cross makes a strong statement. Let her do that. It also brings up questions from others as to what it means. People asked me on a regular basis and I'd tell them the star represented my heritage, and the cross represented my faith in Christ. There's a good opportunity for witness there!
So, take her out and let her buy one that has the cross ON it. That way there will be no misunderstanding.
It's NOT a satanic symbol or any other thing hysterical people want to label it as. LOL ANYTHING can be used in a satanic way. Even the cross is used as such. (worn upside down in jewelry is a good example that you may have seen before)

I wear a Star of David ring when it suits me, I am hoping soon to get a ring that I have seen that has a lion on it. For me it is like the Aboriginal Dreamtime, Pictures tell a story, the Star of David represents the Old Covenant, the Lion of Judah the New Covenant. What I would then like to have is a ring with Aarons rod on it in the centre of the two rings yet budding. Aarons rod budding in the shape of a cross, symbolising the rise of the new covenant.

 

Look at wearing both the star and the cross as an opportunity to share the Gospel when folks ask questions, etc.

It could symbolise an individual's support of the state of Israel.

 

I had a very ugly, plain, flat silver cross of a pretty good size (3 - 4") many years ago. It couldn't be missed. People would always make remarks about it being large or noticeable, etc. and I'd always tell them it was special to me because it was empty. A GREAT witnessing opportunity. I gave it to a fella who was so thrilled with my testimony that he asked where HE could get one...

This can be a great tool for your daughter.
