Anyone have experience starting a non profit organization? I'm not starting one as much as bringing one to my area. I will be starting a Trinity Fitness in my state, www.trinity-fitness.org

It is a Christ centered gym. There is no financial obligation for those who attend, and looking for sponsors and any other help and suggestions from those who have started a non profit successfully. Check out the link and let me know what suggestions you have. I already have a donated facility from a fellow in our church, totally God's doing. I had posted on our churches prayer Facebook page about praying with me in this, and an hour later a guy in my church said his family manufacturing business has an available space and he has been wanting to start a gym, down to even having the plans for cross fit equipment and already having started to make some of the equipment! God had this same vision in his heart, and I had no idea! Its very cool how God works!

Yes. I led the charge to start two of the three rescue missions run by our church and our sister churches. I also founded a non profit organization to preserve and promote folk and old time music, and to provide music lessons on a sliding scale. Plus, my wife is a forensic accountant who specializes in tax law and accounting. Starting a non-profit organization would be right up her alley.

I ran one that had already started, for two years. I nominated an excellent secretary/treasurer. That's my first advice.

Know the limits on what you are allowed to have as assets, on hand. Some even have to refuse funds.

Mine put instruments in kid's hands. It is still very active, today. I ran it for two years, and always had just under our limit, $2400, I believe. I was a very popular president, but decided two years was enough.
