Hebrews 11:13-16
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
"For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city."
The longer I live the more understand why Abraham and others declared to be strangers on this earth. They began looking for a better place, a place prepared for them by God. A place they could call home.
The apostle Paul wanted to leave this world long before he finally did. He couldn't leave until God had accomplished what He gave him to do. The same is true for all of us. No force in this world can stop you until God says, it is finished, you can come home.
I work because I'm saved, not to get saved, and I pray that I will finish my time in this strange place fulfilling what God gave me to do.
