You are really grasping for straws trying to hide your non-interventionist attitude and still defend not intervening in Iran. Really...comparing a college training suicide bombers to people recieving Christ at a Billy Graham crusade. Now, that is twisted.

The point is that people sign up for things at emotional events and most never follow through.

If President Bush dares to use our military to attack Iran without real proof - unlike the false "evidence" he used in the lead-up to invading Iraq - I will support having him impeached.

I think he should draw up his plans, do it in the middle of the night while we are all asleep, and tell us about it in the morning from the oval office...do it up right like Reagan did in Lybia. I think this is what he should have done in Iraq. And I certainly don't think he should be looking for permission from those of you who are waiting for a smoke cloud over Washington for proof while you ignore the facts that Iran's president is planning on Armageddon in Israel. I think you are an isolationist who is very irresponsible with your foreign policy, and I hope nobody with your foreign policy views ever inhabits the White House again.

For your information, Joseph, let me share a quote from the article(that you didn't read) linked in the "After Neoconservatism" thread in the Politics forum:

"Were the United States to retreat from the world stage, following a drawdown in Iraq, it would in my view be a huge tragedy, because American power and influence have been critical to the maintenance of an open and increasingly democratic order around the world."

I agree with this statement by Mr. Fukuyama.

In the article, Mr. Fukuyama makes the case for a "realistic Wilsonianism" - a very interesting concept which I am eager to read more about.

This story was (coincidently) reported on the same day that a Muslim cleric said it was OK for Iran to use nuclear weapons on Israel. If they are trying to alarm the West even more, they couldn't be doing a better job of it.

There is momentum to pull Israel into NATO as a result of Iranian threats. Even Europe has finally awakened to this threat.

 

I don't trust that Iranian president at all. He is getting more and more bellicose all the time. He needs to keep his big fat mouth shut before he gets bombed.
