Study: Physically weak men more likely to be socialist, strong men more likely to be capitalist

A new study from Brunel University London found that physically weaker men are more apt to believe in socialist policies, such as redistribution of wealth. Meanwhile, stronger men are more geared to believe in the capitalist concepts, such as the idea that people should keep what you earn.

Brunel University academics studied 171 men aged 18 - 40, examining their overall physical strength, bicep circumference, weight, and height. They also noted the amount of time each individual spent at a gym, and examined these variables in light of whether they subscribed more to capitalist or socialist ideologies. They found that the more physically strong the men were, the less they believed in socialist policies, and the more they believed certain social groups should be dominant.

Wouldn't doubt it at all. But I would place more of a premium on what I call "mental toughness".

Much harder to measure or see.

Makes perfect sense to me. No body wants to follow a weak man or woman except the weak.

This is a study of 171 men in the UK. many here call the UK a "socialist country." In addition Brunel University has an academic reputation of 11.9%. This is not an acceptable source to answer this question.
Brunel University London

The fake news just keeps on coming from the far-right.

Did you look into this at all, or is this just yet another demonstration of your trolling abilities?

How is this news far-right? Was the study done by those far-right? Is the university far-right?

How is this fake news? Was no study done? Was the study reported differently than presented?

An educated person who knows how to think critically wouldn't fall for that story, much less repost it, unless they had fallen into the trap of confirmation bias.

Strong Men Are Socialist, Reports Study that Previously Reported the Opposite

"The problem with evolutionary psychology is that how plausible a story sounds says very little about whether the story is true because these stories are very easy to come up with. In fact, I can come up with a better explanation that doesn’t rely on any extrapolation of the ancestral environment at all."

Using the same data set, the blogger makes the argument that strong men are more likely to be socialists.

The truth is that the study doesn't demonstrate either proposition.

Yes I did look at the source and that's why I made this comment. I provided the link to the University who did the study. Your turn.

Yes, the study is left to interpretation and the authors try to fit it into an evolutionary paradigm. It’s not far right, it’s not even right. And “18-40” years old included just one man outside the 18-21 range? Yet they were supposedly supporting the results of a previous larger study.

What is perhaps more encouraging is your author’s suggestion that many left-leaning college males may be doing so to attract the campus girls, who are more likely leftists.

BTW, what format is the dataset supposed to be in? .SAV tells me nothing and I saw no note.

I don't know if I could off the study, but only by personal observations, which is that typically Socialists are total wimps.

This study is almost two years old.

No:

Male participants (N = 171) aged 18–40 (M = 21.10,SD = 2.83), 98% of whom were students, were recruited via advertisements posted around the campus of a UK university and paid £5 for about 30 min of participation time. Ethnically the sample was 51% White, 25% Asian or Asian British, 11% Black or Black British, 6% mixed, and 6% other.

You can't extrapolate that into some conclusion about all men and ideology - all this says is 171 youngish men in the UK gave this result. Seems to me paying for participation can tamper the pool, and the guy who provided the "rebuttal" doesn't understand p-values.

So, answer the questions then. Saying you looked but cannot back up your comment is a non-response, or just more trolling.
