Here's a question that has bounced around in the back of my head for a while (yeah, there's a lot of free space up there).

In preparing for and delivering your Sunday morning and Sunday evening messages, what do you do differently? I'm talking like preperation time for each. Styles if different. Same type of delivery, or totally different atmosphere. Content involved. Relation of material between morning/evening, if any.

I've seen and heard preachers who pick topics out of the air for both, some who plan the AM but not the PM, some who preach topical in one and expository in the other, some who continue the train of thought from morning to evening.

How do you do it, and why?

    In Christ,
    Trotter

Dh almost always does expository. PM is a little more informal, sometimes encouraging group participation.

Our music is definitely different - am we use the Baptist Hymnal, pm a little red Stamps Baxter one, all shaped notes.

    • Sunday AM - Topical Series, but expository in nature, with scripture absolutely used in context!</font>
    • Sunday PM - Expository continuing from midweek studies (more "sermon" in nature)</font>
    • Midweek - Expository continuing from Sunday PM (more "lesson/discussion" in nature)</font>

Sunday AM -- expository (through a book or doctrinal series)

Sunday PM -- expository (through a book)

Wed PM -- expository (but more of a bible study with group participation)

Now as far as my preparation time, I give the bulk of my time to Sunday morning when the most people will be there. And I give the least amount of time to Wed night.

    Sunday PM--Expository (through a book)
    Wednesday PM--Expository (doctrinal series)

Very rare will I venture off of Exposition---then when I do---I fall on my face and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness!!!
