Sunday Schoolis now in session

Well, the journey has begun. I started last Sunday, but it was really more of a trial run with my 4yr old and 2 1/2 year old. They were the only ones there that week, but we've been making announcements at all of our services so hopefully we'll have a few more kids this Sunday. I'm going to start at THE BEGINNING, so I'm going to go through Genesis.

Adult Sunday School is only about 45 min. so I've basically broken down my time into three 15 min. sections:

1.) songs
We will eventually preform a couple in front of our church for an evening or wednesday service. Handmotions are used to help them remember the words and keep them involved.

2.) Bible lesson
We begin with prayer, and in a couple of weeks I will begin taking attendance. There will be a reward for perfect attendance, I haven't figured out how long it should last before we begin a new record. For any older kids they will need to also bring a Bible. I know some can not read, but I want them to get into the habit of bringing their Bible to church. They will get help finding the verses we are reading that day. I know my 4 year old LOVES "reading along" with me out of her own Bible, it makes her feel involved.
I'm trying to make sure I ask plenty of questions as I go along. I'm trying to include colorful pictures where I can, and I will incorporate things they can touch as much as possible.

3.) Snack
Will correspond and re-inforce the lesson. For "Let there be light" each child will get white chocolate and milk chocolate covered raisens or pretzels, and they will be asked to seperate the "light from the darkness".

Any time remaining at the end of that will be used on their take home coloring page.

I know over time my methods and teaching style with change/addapt to what I'm working with, particularly when we grow and have to split into multipule groups.

Definitely keep me in your prayers! This is very exciting and fun for me, but I know given time I may get weary.
