FINDING THE HEART OF THE MATTER
    Jeremiah 16:10-17:10; 24:6-7

    I. UNDENIABLE FACT: MY HEART IS TOTALLY WICKED
    A. “INADEQUACY” of my own Life, 16:12
    1. God has REJECTED me
    2. God will RECOMPENSE my Evil
    B. “INDELIBILITY” of Heart Trouble, 17:1
    1. My Sin is ENGRAVED in my Heart
    2. My Sin is EMBEDDED in my Heart
    C. “INABILITY” of any Human Cure, 17:5
    1. I am CURSED for trusting in the Flesh
    2. I have false CONFIDENCE trusting in the Flesh
    3. I stand CONDEMNED for trusting in the Flesh
    D. “INCREDIBILITY” of my Wickedness, 17:9
    1. My Heart is DECEITFUL
    2. My Heart is DESPERATELY Wicked
    3. My Heart is DISCOVERED by God

II. UNBELIEVABLE FACT: MY WICKED HEART CAN BE CHANGED
    A. God will give us a “POSSESSING” Heart, 24:6
    1. God can BRING us to Him
    2. God can BUILD and PLANT us to be Fruitful
    B. God will give us a “PERCEPTIVE” Heart, 24:7
    1. A Heart to KNOW God
    2. A Heart KNOWN by God
    C. God will give us a “PENITENT” Heart, 24:7
    1. HEALED by the Touch of God
    2. HOLY for His Glory alone

Dr. Bob, I ask for leave to ask questions of you while I study the text and your outline. It is in this way that a man who is preparing for a life of service and ministry in the Lord's name and at His wonderful calling will grow and understand the mechanics and hremaneutics of the more experienced.

Dr. Bob, I am new to these parts, but loved the sermon outline. I enjoy preaching and preachers who are faithful to the text. Thanks for sharing.

Was doing a study on "reins" in the KJV ("mind" in NKJV) and was amazed to find it was the Hebrew word KIDNEYS!

Then found it linked to heart (seat of emotions) and kidneys (seat of volition/will).

Then found 60+ references to "heart" in JEREMIAH alone!

Then in the text used, "heart" appears in each segment, tying the message together as both expositional and topical.

If God uses a text to touch MY "heart", then I use my "kidneys" to preach on it!!

(ps - and always open to discuss and share)

I just finished a sermon series through Jeremiah. Thanks for the outline. I believe it is true to the text and context of the Bible.

The last time I preached through Jeremiah was 30 years ago. Those old notes compared to my "new" ones are a sight to behold [IMG]
