We've all seen them. A dollar a block pays 100 for final score or some variation thereof. Have you ever participated in these at the shop or office?

I have never participated but I don't have a problem with someone paying a dollar to participate.

We just don't bet money, it is trying to get money we did not work for, something for free that was taken from someone else. We just don't do any gambling at all. I once really wanted this quilt that was being raffled and would not buy a ticket, my husband was asked once to buy a chance for something and didn't want to gamble, but thought the charity reason(I think it was a local death from a poor family no insurance) was good and gave them money instead.

When I was in the Salvation Army I was told that if I did not quit playing the Football Pools at work that I would be put out of uniform, I then quit playing, yet not really for the right reason when I think about it.

Nope. Now if it was baseball. Just kidding! :D

I DO, however, do charity raffles and if I win, I donate the prize back so they can raffle it off again and make more money. In actuality, I have not gambled - I have donated. [IMG]

What if you lose? Were you, then, gambling?

No. Because I wasn't expecting anything and do not keep anything I win.

    Have bet in the past.

Will probably do so again in the future.

Never too awful much. At least, no more than I can afford to lose.

No different than playing the stock market, and no biblical mandate against it.

    It's all in fun. :D

Would you let your insurance company (supposing you take part in that big betting pool with such a large take for management) pay for your big operation if the premiums you have paid are nowhere close to that big value you "did not work for?"

I don't typically bet on sports, but I did go to Coushatta last year and came home with $1000. That was a fun trip. I need to get the gang together and go again sometime.

It wasn't gambling, it was donating to the poor Indians who've been cast down by the white man all these years. The thousand from them was just a thank you to me for bringing my friends and family along who left much of their money there.

When the Cowboys and Bills played their 2nd Super Bowl, I made 3 bets that weekend. #1, I bet a co-worker $.50 that Illinois would lose to Indiana. They didn't. #2, 2 co-workers and I bet on the final score of the Super Bowl. I guessed 50, one guessed 43 and one guessed 49. Since I lost to both of them, that bet cost me $1. #3, I was so sure that the Bills would win, I bet a friend a pizza. I lost the bet, but enjoyed the pizza.

So, that weekend cost me $1.50 and a pizza. I've never bet on a game since because I really hate to lose money.

whoever loses has to wear a tee shirt or hat with the winning team's logo...

Don't bet money anymore... I'm a pastor and don't have any money to spare.
