I've refused to participate in 'tossing the garter' at weddings, and just a few weeks ago, I refused to read a fortune cookie in a Chinese restaurant, while my Bible Study class I was with kept trying to nudge me to do so. I cannot fathom paying any regard to the kinds of activities in your poll.

I was disappointed to see that you omitted hanging up electrical cords so the electricity would not run out.....my granny did this, covering mirrors during an electrical sorm....so lightning would not be attracted to the mirror, taking flowers out of hospital wards so that during the night the flowers would not suck all the oxygen out, and never ever having peacock plumes or lily of the valley in the hospital ward because death would follow.

Various relatives believed the first 2, my nursing training had the hospital orientated ones. Hospitals were haunted in my early years of nursing, but the accountants sucked even that sort of humanity out of health care.

I suppose a superstition that I DO believe in is that when it is full moon, all the dementia patients and mentally ill go CRAZY.

    What am I superstitious about?

I was walking out of a store on Friday the 13th with my new $6.66 salt shaker I turned quickly to avoid the crack in the sidewalk. While turning, I spotted a black cat, turned the other way and stepped under a ladder. I'm not sure if I tripped over the cat or the crack but it made me spill the salt out of the shaker. I threw the salt over my left shoulder and startled someone inside the store who opened an umbrella to ward off the thrown salt. That made me jump, dropping the now empty salt shaker which hit the side mirror on a parked car and broke the mirror.

    I guess nuttin' :tongue3:

    Superstitions are stupid.

Conspiracy theories, on the other hand...

When I was in the Coast Guard, there was an observable difference in the Search and Rescue cases we would get on a full moon.

On base, some saved up a month’s worth of crazy for the event. Many seemed to celebrate Friday the 13th.
Once there was a full moon on Friday the 13th. Add to that: Friday the 13th is a military pay day, and we were 40 miles from Atlantic City. :tonofbricks:
