Do Black People Owe White People Reparations For Slavery?

Seeing the current talk about reparations, I went looking for the hidden history of enslaved white Europeans, and it just as bad and also occurred in the same time period as black slavery that is being discussed. But the narrative continues to lie that only blacks were slaves and not any whites or that the numbers of white slaves were very low. This knowledge has been heavily suppressed.

More info on the white Christian slaves of Europe that occurred during the same time as near modern black slavery.

During the time period Davis studied, it was religion and ethnicity, as much as race, that determined who became slaves.

“Enslavement was a very real possibility for anyone who traveled in the Mediterranean, or who lived along the shores in places like Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, and even as far north as England and Iceland,” he said.

Pirates (called corsairs) from cities along the Barbary Coast in north Africa – cities such as Tunis and Algiers – would raid ships in the Mediterranean and Atlantic, as well as seaside villages to capture men, women and children. The impact of these attacks were devastating – France, England, and Spain each lost thousands of ships, and long stretches of the Spanish and Italian coasts were almost completely abandoned by their inhabitants. At its peak, the destruction and depopulation of some areas probably exceeded what European slavers would later inflict on the African interior.

Although hundreds of thousands of Christian slaves were taken from Mediterranean countries, Davis noted, the effects of Muslim slave raids was felt much further away: it appears, for example, that through most of the 17th century the English lost at least 400 sailors a year to the slavers.

Research Suggests White Slavery Was Much More Common

The Vikings also stole whites and sold them to Arabs as slaves, but the time of the Vikings was earlier before they were Christianized. Whites have been victims of slavery as long as history has existed.

One that's NEVER talked about is the slave trade in the Middle ages because it was Muslim Arabs enslaving the Serbs and Eastern Europeans, converting them to Islam and using them as soldiers against the West.​

This is an admittedly long clip (no visuals) by Thomas Sowell, but even listening to only part should prove useful and informative.

The overall point is that not only had slavery been a ubiquitous practice throughout history, but it was Western civilization under the impetus of what today would be termed the "religious right" that put an end to much it, over the objections of most other cultures, and very often by force.
