1. The Interment
John 19:41
Now in the place where he was crucified
ἦν δὲ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ὅπου ἐσταυρώθη

there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre,
κῆπος, καὶ ἐν τῷ κήπῳ μνημεῖον καινὸν,
kehpos, kai en tohi kehpohi mnehmeion kainon
wherein was never man yet laid.
ἐν ᾧ οὐδέπω οὐδεὶς ἐτέθη•
en hohi oudepoh oudeis ehn tetheimenos.
Mark 15:46d
Joseph laid him in a sepulchre
(Ἰωσὴφ) κατέθηκεν αὐτὸν ἐν μνημείῳ ὃ ἦν
Iohsehph katethehken auton en mnehmati ho ehn
which was hewn out of rock.
λελατομημένον ἐκ πέτρας.

Luke 23:53
He laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone,
(Ἰωσὴφ) ἔθηκεν αὐτὸ ἐν μνήματι λαξευτῷ,

οὗ οὐκ ἦν οὐδεὶς οὐδέπω κείμενος•

Matthew 27:60
Joseph laid it in his new
καὶ (Ἰωσὴφ) ἔθηκεν … αὐτὸ ἐν τῷ καινῷ αὐτοῦ

tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock . . .
μνημείῳ ὃ ἐλατόμησεν ἐν τῇ πέτρᾳ,
mnehmeiohi ho elatomehsen en tehi petrai.
Luke 23:55
And the women also followed after—
Κατακολουθήσασαι δὲ αἱ γυναῖκες,
Katakolouthehsasai de hai gunaikes—
which came with him from Galilea,
αἵτινες ἦσαν συνεληλυθυῖαι αὐτῷ ἐκ τῆς Γαλιλαίας,
haitines ehsan sunelehluthuiai ek tehs Galilaias autohi,
they beheld the sepulchre and how his body was laid.
ἐθεάσαντο τὸ μνημεῖον καὶ ὡς ἐτέθη τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ,

And Mary Magdalene and Mary of Joses

beheld where he was laid.
ἐθεώρουν ποῦ τίθεται.

Matthew 27:61
And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary,

sitting over against the sepulchre.

John 19:42
There therefore because of the Jews’ preparation,
ἐκεῖ οὖν διὰ τὴν παρασκευὴν τῶν Ἰουδαίων,
Ekei oun dia tehn paraskeuehn tohn Ioudaiohn
for the sepulchre was nigh at hand, laid they Jesus.
ὅτι ἐγγὺς ἦν τὸ μνημεῖον, ἔθηκαν τὸν Ἰησοῦν.
hoti engus ehn to mnehmeion, ethehkan ton Iehsoun.
Mark 15:46f
And he rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
καὶ προσεκύλισε λίθον ἐπὶ τὴν θύραν τοῦ μνημείου.
Kai prosekulisen lithon epi tehn thuran tou mnehmeiou.
Matthew 27:60
...and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre,
…καὶ προσκυλίσας λίθον μέγαν τῇ θύρᾳ τοῦ μνημείου
...Kai proskulisas lithon megan tehi thurai tou mnehmeiou,
and departed.
ἀπῆλθεν.

Luke 23:56a
And the women returned, and prepared spices and ointments.
ὑποστρέψασαι δὲ ἡτοίμασαν ἀρώματα καὶ μύρα.
Hupostrepsasai de hehtoimasan arohmata kai mura.

Because that day was the Preparation
Kαὶ ἡμέρα ἦν Παρασκευὴ,
