Tablet netbooks are out....

Asus has one as well as Lenovo and probably others.

I thought about one of those on ebay, there were several. They were very tempting! I like the 10 inch - just fits my needs being smaller. I had a 7 inch for awhile but my eyes just didn't like it after an hour or so (can't seem to get the doctor to get me glasses that work

I find myself amazed at the size of these things and the fact that they are full computers. (I used a windows ce unit for years that was quite limited.)

Looking at your avatar, I would think the laptop would be a real blessing for you, it has a little give in the top of the case as opposed to the desktop :tongue3:

The eye doctor gave me a bum prescription, then he gave me a new prescripption and I could literally see better without glasses than with his prescription. He then told me that he thought it would be best if he wasn't my doctor anymore :thumbsup: Would not give me an explanation when I asked so next time I get a new doctor - probably for the best :smilewinkgrin:

 

I like the netbook for using and working but the desktop for having fun - games, experiments, new programs etc. Lately I could do without anything cept the netbook as it is so useful in the study area, and it is easier to take with me to starbucks - those long extension cords are the pits. :smilewinkgrin:

 

Just thought I would update this a little.

I received one of the Lenovo units three days ago and there are some things I did not know.

1. Windows 7 starter does not have the handwriting recognition software so though this is a tablet, you can't use it as a tablet. You can use the ease of access keyboard which is quite helpful.

There are third party recognition software but at a price 40 for the one I found first. They do have a sticky note, small, that you can write on but only a few words. MS One Note recognize, though I have yet to get it to work.

2. It uses a foam tipped stylus not the regular type. This is a capacitive touch pad which needs a capacity difference between the screen and stylus. None comes with the unit by the way though they are cheap on ebay.

3. Comes with no sleeve to carry it.

4. The one from jr with the eight cell battery is an inch deeper than the picture which has a smaller battery.

5. 7 Starter seems to be close to full but a little short on the networking though I have not found any problems on a home network. You cannot change the background on the screen.

6. It does have a program that allows the touch part to be used with music, photos, videos and ebooks with a menu at the bottom to get to other programs you might use. Kind of like one of the old shells of Dos days only a lot neater.

Nice unit actually except for the recognition. You can upgrade to bigger windows and get it but I have yet to find out what versions of 7 have the tablet accessories.


Fast little computer and seems to run several programs quite efficiently.
