Ack...hadn't heard it...don't want to think about it. Ack!

Here's a link to a profile on one of the judges alleged to be involved. I find it unlikely that he would be a friend to this issue.

I sure hope that we can keep the housing allowance. I have really benefited from, and it helps keep ministry affordable!

I personally hope they get rid of it. It is duplicitous. No other profession has it.

We pay SS on the parsonage provided, and get no real benefit (except free rent). I think the entire parsonage system should be eliminated. Let the church sell the parsonage, bank the $$ and give the pastor a living wage so he can build equity and roots in the community.

If I earn XYZ amount of money, should I think I need free GOVERNMENT subsidy (tax exemption) because God's people can't take care of their pastor? What kind of testimony are we sending to our pastors and our people?

ps - I lived in a parsonage/campus housing tax free for 20 years. When I went to buy a house the loan officers just laughed.

    Dr. Bob,

I agree on the parsonage issue. I also agree with your sentiment on the issue the housing designation allowance, but you know where I currently am--it's not a church. Churches should take care of their pastor.

    Best wishes,

    Chick

I am sorry but I disagree. I need the parsonage allowance to stay afloat. And your statement about the Church giving the Pastor a living wage. I don't expect that will ever happen. They expect that they will keep us poor and God will keep us humble.
