Seriously though, never trust a politician. They are, to one extent or some other, in it for themselves.

That is true. Now out of the 17 Republicans running there are a few that I like better then others, and there are some that at this point you could not pay me enough to vote for.

My opinion only. I ignore what a politician says what he will do. I only consider what he has done. Record and experience is more important than promises.

Ted Cruz actions are what has convinced me he is the real deal. He fights against just about all the liberal policies that are pushed in the senate

All Citations Are From The NIV

The adjective should only be attributed to God.

    Deut.

7:41 : for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God.

10:17 : For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome

    Neh.

1:5 : the great and awesome God

4:14 : Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome

9:32 : the great God, mighty and awesome

    Ps.

47:2 : For the Lord Most High is awesome

68:35 : You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary

The NIV is not the pure inspired infallible word of God.

The KJV is and it does not have the word awesome.

This is not a forum to promote your fallacious KJVO views.
The word "awesome" probably didn't exist in the early 17th century.

In all of the passages I cited (Deut. 7:41 should be 7:21) the KJV uses the word terrible. The words terrible and awful then meant what awesome means today.

But being as young as you are you have likely succumbed to the debasement of the word awesome. So a mere man is considered awesome by you. Well, I say it should apply only to the Lord. Perhaps the NET Bible's rendering of 'awe-inspiring' might be even better.

He is smooth! I'll give you that. However, he is like Obama, a one-term wonder! And that has me wondering about his ability to lead!

Personally, all those politicians on the stage, spoke like politicians on a stage. They said what they felt America wanted to hear. Will that translate to honesty and doing something once elected? After years and years of disappointment, I grow more skeptical! :tear:

A very big reason I am a supporter of Gov. Walker at this point.
His personality is a far cry from some of the others, BUT he has been through the fire in Wisconsin and come through like a trooper.
One of the main reasons we are in the stew of today is that TV performance is the main criteria for so much of the electorate; and as has been proved, big promises, charisma, and showmanship just ain't the same as qualifications.

Does that include this statement made by Scott Walker during the debate?

"It's only by the blood of Jesus Christ that I've been redeemed for my sins."

I've said this before & I'll post it here again.

It'd be great if every candidate for every political office at all levels was a very dedicated evangelical Christian.

The same should apply for a person who is about to occupy for any future government office at any of the three levels of our nation's appointed or elected officials as well.

But the fact is that this just isn't going to happen--it has never happened in the past nor, sad to say, do I see any clear indication that it will happen in the future, at least until God's people will "rule & reign" with Christ when He returns.

We need to keep in mind that when we vote for a person--while we'd like to be quite confident that he/she is in fact a dedicated evangelical Christian--the plain fact is that we have no iron-clad guarantee that "Candidate X" is one.

And even if he/she is one, that per se isn't going to guarantee that 100% of the time he/she will always act strictly in accord with every single Bible passage that might pertain to the subject matter at hand in every situation he/she will face while in office.

Even King David, who was said to be "a man after God's own heart," stumbled and failed God" & the nation he was anointed by Samuel to govern.

Then too, different Christians have different ideas about how this particular office holder should carry out the responsibilities of the the office which God has allowed him/her to occupy. Just read the posts in BB's Politics Forum & you'll see what I mean about this!

I question many of the actions of some of our former POTUS's & wonder just how closely they adhered to all the Bible's statements in a given set of political circumstances. EXAMPLES: 1) Didn't Pres. John Adams' "Alien & Sedition Laws" violate the 1st Amendment's guarantee of not abridging the peoples' right to free speech & a free press?
    2) Didn't Pres. Jefferson violate Article I, Section 8 of our Constitution when he bought the Louisiana Purchase without any approval of Congress?
    3) Didn't Pres. Lincoln violate the Constitution's ban on suspending the Writ of Habeas Corpus in the early 1860's for people and/or the press if either one was found guilty of opposing any of his measures during "The War Between the States"?
    4) Didn't Pres. Wilson violate the 5th & 6th Amendments' guarantees when he ordered people who openly opposed his war policies of WW1?
    5) Didn't FDR essentially do the same thing when he ordered all people--even if they were US citizens--of Japanese descent to be summarily rounded up & sent to internment camps simply because they were Japanese?
    6) Didn't Pres. Truman, and many of his successors, violate Article I, Section 8's Constitutional provision that Congress--not the POTUS--has the sole power to declare war?

These are just 6 examples of what some of our POTUS's did in the past.

Were every single one of our POTUS's born-again Christians? Some probably were, but some may not have been. We as mortal humans, have no foolproof way of knowing which ones trusted Christ as Savior & which ones didn't.

In conclusion, yes, it'd be great to have each & every one of our political/governmental office holders as Christians, but what we'd like & what we've got either in the past, or the present, or in the future will probably never happen.
