Talk to Iran ? Ask them for help ? Are we crazy ? Didn't peanut-head talk to them for about a year an a half once ? Yeah, he did. He begged them, and they laughed at us. It was only when Ronaldus Magnus got elected that our hostages were let go, I know, 'cuz I was there to make sure they behaved themselves. Ever sung "Happy Birthday" to America on July 4th in the Persian Gulf ? I have. And yes, I am proud of that.

Yes, wasn't it the Canadian Ambassador who got some Americans out of captivity? Seems I recall that, but not sure which event it was...memory fails me.

But, you know, when the US troops are pulled out of Iraq they can join us in Afghanistan where the real terrorism is.............Hmmmmmm ironic!

I haven't read the whole report yet, but I did scan some of it today, particularly the part about Iran.

From what I have read so far it is one of the most reasonable proposals I have read coming out of Washington in a long, long time. I need to print it out and try to read it this weekend.

I think that we have three options for our Iraq policy:

1) Have a regional conference with Iraq and all of its neighbors.

2) Send in an additional 200,000 troops to install martial law and totally control Iraq and plan on keeping 350,000 troops for the next thirty years.

3) Just pack up and leave.

I mentioned these to my friend on the local talk radio show this morning that he hosts. He didn't like any of the three options but he doesn't know of any alternative that he does like.

Let's face it - there are no good alternatives. The neocons convinced President Bush to take out Saddam Hussein but they had no idea how to handle the situation once we had accomplished that.

Now we're in the mess we are in.

I think the best of the "bad" options is the regional conference idea. The other idea that I like is the three state confederacy with sharing the oil revenue but I don't think it is on the table.

Oh, there is a fourth option - continue what we are doing with our troops being killed and maimed for year after year after year with no way out of the mess.

Again, we are talking an average of 500 American troops killed
PER YEAR. I think we can afford that price to keep Americans from being

Yes, it was. Not just the Ambassador, but all of the staff at the Canadian embassy in Tehran, including some Canadians without diplomatic immunity, who risked imprisonment to help. Some Americans from the embassy made it to the Canadian embassy when the mob took over. Over a period of weeks, the Canadians carefully probed the security at the airport to make sure that they could get away with it, and then smuggled out the Americans one at a time.

This is one American who will never forget what your people did for us.

But also seriously, if it doesn't work - try something else.

Here are the rules in Israel:

If a non-Jewish Israeli citizen dies, a Hamas dies.
If a Jewish Israeli citizen dies, five Hamas die.
If a guest of Israel (like US citizens) dies; ten Hamas die.

They make real good anti-terrorist rules.

 

Won't this be like asking the cat to keep an eye on your mice? In that light, Iran may just step up and give us the help we desire. Won't be long till we be back but they'll promise to play nice, shake our hand and wave us a goodbye...

Negotiations with these terrorists is completely without merit. They are not honorable in any way. They have vowed to kill us, and simply telling us that fact is the first necessary step in their twisted logic.

I don't have answers but to leave is a terrible loss and a terrible price will be paid in innocent lives lost.

 

This once great nation, that reluctantly but resolutely stepped into WW2 and cleaned house, is now reduced to a paper tiger. The liberals have decided that to be an arbiter and benevolent problem solver by this nation is unacceptable, so they began dismantling our will to wage war during Korea, and were fully successful by Viet Nam, and ever since, we have had leaders unswervingly led to liberal ideology, resulting in our now position as a paper tiger. We may as well vastly trim back our military budget, because we will never again use the military effectively.
