The article is misleading, perhaps unintentionally.

While the death rate has dropped, the death rate, especially on weekends, is not always swiftly accounted for statewide. For instance, many of the most populous counties in Texas (Dallas County, Tarrant County, Denton County, etc.) do not report new coronavirus data on Sundays.

Where I live in Tarrant County, we had two deaths on Sunday.
