    One of my Uncles was a Combat Engineer, not with that Battalion, and he was a casualty of the Battle of the Bulge. He was racing toward the front in a vehicle loaded with land mines when an explosion occurred on or near the vehicle. He was left for dead (his dog tag was pulled) but later was found barely alive and was saved by French doctors.
