As part of my job as news director at a Christian radio station,I share stories like the one I posted here yesterday about the practice of "e-tithing"...having your tithe automatically withdrawn from your checking account and paying it via the internet.

I was curious as to how people felt about this idea,so posted it here and asked for feedback.

I got some great responses, both pro and con,and I read them on the air this morning (not using your names, of course.) I mentioned that I had gotten the responses here on the Baptist Board. [IMG]

Good job, everybody! Now...wonder if the Webmaster will give me brownie points for the free publicity? :D

As with moderators, he doubles our pay each year.

Very good job, cindy. The Lord bless you......I love Christian broadcasting and listen to the Christian station called Mars Hill from Syracuse all day long.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Not only did I miss your thread here, but I didn't hear you mention the BB this morning cause I wasn't listening. I usually listen on my way to work and catch your news broadcast, but I didn't go in til 1pm today. :( .

Just add them to the hundreds of brownie points you already had, Cindy!

I think the coolest thing about this thread is discovering that Bill listens to Cindy on the radio. I'd be curious to hear a broadcast myself. [IMG]

Good report, Cindy! But wonder if anyone in Rockford even listens to the radio? And how many of them listen to YOU!

(Just pulling your chain, friend. )

Seriously. What kind of demographics does Christian Radio have in your area? Out here in Wyoming, we have 23 Country/Western stations that outpoll our "christianity lite" pilgrim radio.

I actually do the news for two Christian radio stations which are owned by the same institution (First Assembly of God Church). I welcome you to visit our websites:

    http://www.radio91.com

    http://www.101qfl.com

Radio 91 is what's called an "inspo" station: more "inspirational" music that would still be considered contemporary by many Christians' standards. We're talking Fernando Ortega,Steve Green,Michael Card, the Martins,Matthew Ward,Phillips/Craig/Dean,and the milder end of some of the more contemporary groups and artists like Point of Grace,Jaci Velasquez,Rachael Lampa, etc.

    Also,Radio91 carries most of the major preaching/teaching programs,including D.James Kennedy,Chuck Swindoll,Charles Stanley,John MacArthur,Chuck Colson,Focus on the Family,Family Life with Dennis Rainey,etc.

And my newscasts are longer and more meaty on Radio 91.

101QFL,on the other hand,is flat-out CCM,actually on the harder edge of CCM most of the time, with artists/bands on their playlist ranging from Caedmon's Call and Jars of Clay to Switchfoot,Grits,dcTalk, Newsboys,Delirious,Third Day,etc.

Also 101QFL is music intensive, meaning NO teaching/preaching or talk programs, and the newscasts are shorter and lighter.

We used to have our programming on an Internet stream, but we withdrew it as a precautionary measure quite a while due to an FCC issue affecting streaming stations, and we never put it back up. :(

Dr. Bob,knew you couldn't resist a little jab. [IMG]

As to your question...I'm told that together,Q and G pull in close to 30-thousand listeners. That's about one-fifth of Rockford's population.
