Baptists are infamous for having potlucks. In another thread, C4K mentioned how interesting it would be if all the pastors on here could get together. My first thought was "what would I cook and what's everyone else bringing?"

I put it here on purpose, as everyone knows Baptist taste buds are different than other denominations. [IMG]

    So what are you bringing?
If it's something you feel we may be unfamiliar with, please explain it in detail.

Feel free to provide recipes. I know I'm always looking for ideas on what can be made in quantity while still looking good and tasting wonderful, and I'm probably not the only one!

    I'll bring danish meatballs.

The meatballs themselves aren't important -- it's the sauce that makes them wonderful, so I usually buy a bag at Sams and put the following sauce on them and cart them around in my jumbo sized crock pot.

    1/2 cup of butter
    1/2 cup of flour
    4 cups of Chicken broth
    1/2 t salt
    4 t dried dill weed
    2 cups sour cream

melt butter and stir in flour. Stir in broth, salt, dill. Cook over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream. Pour over meatballs about 30 minutes before serving.

Lemon blueberry cheesecake. That sounds divine! And divine at a Christian gathering is good, amen? [IMG]

Anyone else notice that Blackbird edited my post at 9 something pm, but it's not yet 7 pm? Is time travel one of the benefit now offered in the moderator's perk package? [IMG]

1 1-pound can pineapple chunks, drained
1 1-pound can diced pears, drained
1 small jar maraschino cherries, drained, and rinsed

Although I am a preacher and not really required to bring food, I will bring Halibut with Mushroom and Shrimp Sauce.

    Ingredients:

5 pounds white fish-halibut, cod, snapper, pollock
    2 tablespoons salt
    6 bay leaves
    2 sliced onion
    2 teaspoons thyme
    1 teaspoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon celery seed
    2 cups celery leaves
    2/3 pound mushrooms

    SAUCE
    4 tablespoons butter
    36 shrimp
    2 cloves garlic
    1/2 cup butter
    1 cup flour
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1/2 teaspoon celery salt
    1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    2 chicken bouillon cube
    3 cups milk

    1. Wash 2 1/2 pounds of white fish and tie in a cheesecloth bag. Poach gently in 2 quarts of water seasoned with salt, bay leaves, onion, thyme, onion powder, celery seed and celery leaves until fish is firm (about 10 minutes). Remove fish from water, drain (keep fish stock), remove bones and skin. Cut into individual servings.

    2. Sauce: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in pan and sauté clove crushed garlic, shrimp and mushrooms. Melt 1/4 cup butter or margarine in saucepan over low heat. Stir in flour, pepper, celery salt and onion powder. Remove from heat and slowly add chicken bouillon cube dissolved in 1 cup of strained fish stock and milk. Add mushrooms and shrimp. Butter a baking dish and spread a thin layer of sauce over the bottom. Lay fish on top of the sauce. Cover with remaining sauce. Bake at 350º for 15-20 minutes, or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
    Servings: 10
