In your opinion, what is the best version of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol ?

I like the George C. Scott production, but my favorite is the Mister Magoo version.

There's a version with the Flintstones; Fred plays Scrooge.

Seriously, the music in the Muppet's version is great "one more sleep 'til Christmas" and others. I was actually listening to the CD as I was checking the posts here.

The Alastair Sim one is both of my daughters favorite one. Their favorite part is when he says..."I think I'll stand on my head." And the maid runs and screams hysterically. [IMG] This one portrays the biblical meaning I think more than some of the rest of them do.

The 1951 version with A. Sim is the best!

Choose one only? Okay... I think I like the George C. Scott one the best...unless it's the Reginald Owen one...or maybe it's the Bill Murrey one...I like the Mr. Magoo one too...and didn't Patrick Stewart do one a year or so ago? Am I totally daft? I seem to remember good 'ol Captain Ahab, no I mean Captain Picard.... [IMG] doing a version too... In fact I'm almost positive.

And you know what really burns me? I haven't seen one of these versions on T.V. this year!!! So what...you have to have 130 cable chanels to see these movies these days?! :( ;)

I do not care for it at all. I find it boring. But my kids are screaming Bill Murray. So I will pick that.

Hmmm... Not to be too much of a Scrooge about it, but the original text version by Charles Dickens is by far the best .... But that Mr. Magoo, he's never been one to overlook a good part, eh?

Love Bill Murray anyway, but his Scrooge was one of the very best characatures of Dickens' original.

Haven't seen another that is worthy of inclusion.

Certainly hard to argue against the Green One, that's for sure. :D
