What were the elements when scripture was written.

What was the message of the passages?

Hard to ask a premodern text to achieve a thoroughly modern task with precision not in place when the text was written.

I would say the Bible is faithful in its teaching about matters.

Yes, it is tough to ask God to be accurate when to Him pre-modern, modern and post-modern are irrelevant.

I've discovered that if a man isn't truthful or accurate about what some might call unimportant matters, they can't be trusted about the bigger issues. If God's Word can't be trust about science and medicine, I don't think it can be trusted about salvation and eternal matters.

Maybe you trust people who aren't accurate, but i won't.

Calling or viewing parts of God's Word as unimportant or inaccurate makes you the judge. Personally, I'll take the Word of God at its face value.

The Bible is GOD’S WORD, therefore as man’s knowledge increases, we will see, that the LORD “already knew that”, and said something about it in His Word.

Here is just one example............
Leviticus 17:11a
“For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood:....

This is a biological fact, that Science only relatively recently discovered.

Where have I said the Bible isn't accurate?

Notice I said in my post that the Bible is faithful. Where have I said it isn't accurate?

What kind of biblio-idolatry tries to make a person less spiritual or honest for not ascribing to the exact definition another person holds?

So are you saying that the Bible is accurate today and will be accurate in the future? Or are you saying that it was accurate at the time it was written?

As soon as someone says that they trust the Bible to be without errors, we are accused of worshipping the Bible. I guess David was guilty of the same error:

I will bow down toward Your holy temple And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name. Psalm 138:2

Kind of a double standard by some isn't it.

It's interesting that people are choosing either "extremely important" or "not important". No one so far has chosen "somewhat important". Interesting.

I would say that the other way around. How important is it that science agrees with the Bible? Any scientific theory that disagrees with God's word is false.

This topic reminds me.... There used to be a guy on the bb who claimed the earth is the center of the universe, based on verses such as Psalms 113, which he said states that the Sun goes around the earth, as well as other verses that refer to the earth being firmly fixed. He claimed that a Christian who believes in anythng other than geocentrim doesn't believe in the Bible. He said that if we cannot reject the idea that the sun only appears to rise, then we are accepting the idea that the Son only appeared to rise. The guy was a real crackpot. It was a good 3 or 4 years ago. Does anyone else remember him?

I vaguely remember him, not sure if he was trying to pull our leg.

However I believe Galileo was banned for proposing a sun-centered solar system.

I was the first to do that. I don't think it's really important that the earth was or wasn't created in 7 24-hour days. It doesn't affect my relationship with God. On the other hand, it is of supreme importance to believe that God made man, that He made man in His own image, and that Adam and Eve were the first human persons. It is important to know that these human persons are our actual ancestors; otherwise, we cannot be sure we are children of God and we cannot be sure that we have souls that live on after we are gone.

So, I'm not very concerned about what the Bible says about animals and things. I am very concerned about what the Bible says about God and His relationship to man.

I did not answer because I object to the way the question is phrased.

How important it is to me doesn't matter one iota!!!!

It's not an issue of "how important is it to you" but rather is the Bible true in what it says?

Yes, I think it is.

Just because it is not a scientific text does not mean that the way the Bible presents things is unscientific.

If I recall right Henry Morris said that was possible. Who knows? The point being that our point of view is so limited and our reference not infinite.

There was also a time when the church largely believed in evolution.

Seems to me that is where it is so important to be humble.
