Our son is a member of a Christian Reformed church. I am confused regarding their doctrine and how it lines up with Scripture. Are any of you very familiar with this denomination??

Been with the for a dozen years. www.crc.org should work. They are the Dutch branch of the Reformation. Less legalistic than the OPC. Our documents are the Heidelberg Catchism, Belgic Confession and Canon of Dort.

It's roughly similar to Presbyterian doctrine. Aside from minor points of application (which is present in comparison of just about any two churches), there's nothing in CRC faith and practice that's of any significant concern. IOW, no need to worry.

There are some CRC churches in our area, and I understand them to be very solid churches. Of course, there are differences between Baptists and Reformed Christians. I've listed a few of these below. HOpe this helps.

    Confessions
Baptist – may refer to the historic London Confession, but probably not
Reformed – holds to the Dutch Confessions and historic Christian creeds

    Theology
    Baptist – Normally Dispensational
    Reformed – Covenant Theology

    Salvation
Baptist – ranges from strongly Arminian to Calvinistic
    Reformed - Calvinistic

    Baptism
Baptist – Believers only by immersion only
Reformed – Believers and their children; normally by pouring or sprinkling

    Eschatology
    Baptist – usually dispensational premillennial
    Reformed – probably amillennial

    Church Government
Baptist – Congregational, autonomous, no formal link to other churches
Reformed – Representative, formal links to other churches within the denomination
