I have been waiting for this movie along time and am really impressed by Disneys allowing it to retain it's Christian slant. The soundtrack will even have artist like Kutless, Jeremy Camp and others. I plan on really trying to support this movie as much as I can.

Go see it at the movies and buy the video. Lets reward Disney for this effort.

I only hope that they do the book(s) justice. They are some of the most amazing that I have ever read, and I will be sorely disappointed if they take too many liberties or stray too far from the original story. I will also be disappointed if they try and pull elements from the other books to try and fit more than one story in the movie. Each book deserves it's own film. If they can do it for Harry Potter, they can do it for Aslan and the crew of Narnia.

Knowing it is Disney I will hold off my reward giving until the movie comes out. Disney has its own way of slipping in its own agenda. Do not be to surprised to see some sort of unneccessary immoral scene that adds absolutely nothing to the movie and further attempts to push you towards incensitivity towards Disneys ultimate goal of immorality and perversion.

And without trying to be a downer and this movie does turn out to be a good ethical movie, be on your guard with Disney as I do not think this is some sort of Disneys attempt at changing its ways. Rather I believe it is some attempt to get the christian community to patronize its parks and to be less sensitive to other Disney movies soon to come.

If you catch yourselves saying that this was a good movie considering it was Disney then just beware of the future movies Disney will be coming out with.

At least Michael Eisner is gone so hopefully Disney will get better now.

Agreed! This is my concern. I think if it does well we can expect to see at least 2 more. Hopefully.

Our youth group is considering going as a whole opening night! Another church in our area is renting out a 4 screen theatre for two nights! But our area seems to be unique. I have not heard of this in many other places. Maybe Christians can send a message to Hollywood! We want Christian-themed movies.

I would personally view the movie as an individual before I decided to take an entire youth group or rent out a theater to see it. This is not the passion of the Christ and as I said before it is Disney.I am not saying Disney did not keep to the story line but knowing who it is wouldn't it be safer to know before hand then to jump into it? I would hate to see a youth pastor or a trusted youth leader bring a bunch of kids to a movie only to get themselves into an embarassing situation and give the kids the impression that its okay to go see improper movies. I had to sound like I am being negative but Disney has done nothing for this country and the children in it to go jumping into mass narnia outttings.

I'm sure our youth group will wait and see what stand the SBC takes on the movie.(Or other christian sources- Focus on the Family and others I can't remeber.)We took our youth group to see The Incredibles so I'm sure this will have a more Christian impact than that movie!

 I can't find anything of the sort in my favorite Disney films: The Rookie, Miracle, Cool Runnings, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and, most notably, The Incredibles, all appear to be devoid of this. The biggest grossing Disney films are, for the most part, wholesome and appropriate family entertainment, especially their animated films. In fact, The Incredibles is incredibly (no pun intended) abundant in moral and family values, and completely devoid of any hint of immorality.

As for this movie, the rumor mills say that the movie sticks reasonably well to the books in story line. But don't forget that the books aren't exactly advanced or lengthy reading, so the transfer to the big screen requires at least some amount of dramatic license.

    </font>
I am glad to see not everyone here is out to bash Disney. Lets keep in mind that just because Disney is not a Christian company does not mean that they can't turn out a wholesome product. Disney is out to make money just like any other for-profit company and if wholesome products are supported they will produce more.

Take a look at Johnv's list. These are some of my favorites also and I will support Disney and any other company that turns out products like these.

You can believe what you want about Disney but they sure put out enough movies that have slight hints of homosexuality in it and have plenty of movies with broken families and how they parade their gay pride parades in their family fun parks with all the children that can publicly see them.

Lets take toy story for example. To me it stood out like a sore thumb but others may have never picked up on this short little scene in the movie. The scene is near the end of the movie and it is around christmas time and the children are at the tree and they are showing the reflection of them from some object I cannot remember what it is, but what took me by surprise was that they showed the legs of the mother in the scene but there was no sign of a father around.Hmmmmm... strange!!!

Remember the Titans had one locker room scene of a teenage boy full mouth kissing the other on the lips and never really revealing whether the one doing the kissing is really gay or not.Let's not forget the Brady Bunch movies Disney produced with two grown men kissing each other.

Let's also not forget about the cover of the little mermaid which brought out huge amounts of contraversy over the front cover of the movie. For those of you who never understood what it was about picture a family fun movie front cover with a palace that has the tops of them looking like the male anatomy. How is that for clean??

"You cannot serve two master, you will serve one and hate the other."

Don't think for one minute Disney has any interest in christian values and goes completely out of their way to thwart them. I am not bashing Disney since they make their intentions pretty obvious themselves. I am not sure what their interest in a christian movie is but nothing will lead me to believe they are turning over a new leaf.

But don't worry about whether or not I am bashing Disney because the further into my relationship with God I get the less desire I have to go see just about any movie at all because you can hardly go to a movie at all without getting some sort of lude, foul or just unneccessary eye full of something that adds absolutely nothing to the movie.

Can you name ONE company that's products are 100% Christian? I can't! Even those companies that support Christian values are not 100% Christian. Those of us who are Christians fail every day, because we are imperfect. If a Christian can't do right every day how can we expect a company to do that.

Support the good stuff, and don't support the bad then companies will get the message about what we want and what we will pay for. My point is why pick on Disney as they are really no better or worse than any other company.

Are we to assume that just because a reflection of a father's legs are not present, that he is not there?

Look for the good in things, man. The Chronicles could very well be a step in the right direction for a company with a load of products that most of us grew up loving and enjoying. While in years past some have been atrocious, most of their stuff has been fine.

I agree each Narnia story needs its own film.

And based on everything I've read, seen, or heard this film is supposed to be true to the stories and books. While I know some liberties are bound to happen, C.S. Lewis' stepson is involved and promises that it will retain it's Christian influence.

I await this film more than any other this year.

    Just my humble opinion.

I believe TPOTC deserves a prescreening more than TLTWATW. With that said, I would prescreen every movie I show to a youth group. More to be ready to address controversial content and to have relevant thought provoking questions ready than to censor it.

The first film is IMDB : The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe with a release date in the US of Dec 9, 2005.

I would think that the continuation of the series would depend on the sucess of this release.

    </font>
The only thing that my wife and I didn't like in The Incredibles was near the end when the baby changed shapes and one of them was a demon. Up until that point, we would have been just fine with our kids (ages 7, 4 and 2) watching it. When that one scene came up, we decided that it wouldn't be making another appearance on our TV. Though that part was onscreen for maybe 2 seconds, everyone of the kids would have had a problem seeing that. It's a shame because overall, I liked the movie.

What I choose to believe about Disney is based on fact, not based on how long you can make a sentence. In the list of movies I gave, which of them have hints of homosexuality? Which of them have broken families. In fact, the Rookie and The Incredibles havew intact families as a main focus of the story. (in Beauty and the Beast the presumption is that the mother is deceased, while in Toy Story and Monsters Inc, there simply isn't enough information given, because it's not of significant pertinance to the story).

I've seen Remember the Titans several times. There is no way whatsoever that you could remotely get any kind of "gay" message from that at all. None.

These were Paramount releases. They were adult (not family) oriented comedies.

Sorry, but you've fallen for an oft-repeated urban legend, that one of the castle spires on the cover of Disney's The Little Mermaid home video was deliberately drawn as a phallus by a disgruntled artist. The plain truth is that the resemblance between the castle spire and a phallus was purely coincidental. I have the video, and to be honest, the castle is so large and the items in question is so small that it requires a bit of imagination to see what you're claiming.

I don't think that their primary interest is in Children values. I think their primary interest is in making money, and one of the markets is family friendly entertainment. Your claims in those regards do indeed appear to be overblown, and in at least two cases, patently false (the video cover and gay days).

Seeing as how the leaf you're pointing to is doesn't even qualify as a leaf, it's obvious that their interest here is in filling a consumer niche. People want to see these books made into movies, want to see them done Peter-Jacksonian fashion.

I am concerned, because the way you do it compromises your Christian witness. That's of great concern.
