I remember the song but the only words remember is the opening line, "Hank, let's talk about your daddy...".

It shouldn't be hard to find. Just type "The Conversation lyrics" into your browser.

Now, there's also a traditional song called "Oh, Death", that was done by the Stanley Brothers, Olabelle Reed, Ralph Stanley and Keith Whitley, and Ralph Stanly, among others.

It goes back ages, but was made popular to younger listeners in the movie, "Oh Brother, Where Are Thou".

Could that be the one you're thinking of?

I'm not sure, I'm looking for it for a friend and he doesn't remember the words. It is a conversation with death and a christian song. If you give me the words, I'm sure I'll be able to identify it. I don't really think that that is the right one(last one you mentioned) but I'm not sure. -Alycia [IMG]

    Oh death
    Oh death
Won't you spare me over til another year

Well what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands taking hold of me
Well I am death none can excel
I'll open the door to heaven or hell

    Whoa death someone would pray
Could you wait to call me til another day
The children pray the preacher preached
Time and mercy is out of your reach

I'll fix your feet til you can't walk
I'll lock your jaw til you can't talk
I'll close your eyes so you can't see
This very hour come and go with me

In death I come to take the soul
Leave the body and leave it cold
To drop the flesh off of the frame
The earth and worms both have a claim

    Oh death
    Oh death
Won't you spare me over til another year

My mother came to my bed
Place a cold towel upon my head
My head is warm my feet are cold
Death is a movin upon my soul

Oh death how you're treatin me
You close my eyes so I can't see
Well you're hurtin my body you make me cold
You run my life right out of my soul

Oh death please consider my age
Please don't take me at this stage
My wealth is all at your command
If you'll remove your icy hands

Oh the young the rich or poor
All alike to me you know
No wealth no land no silver or gold
Nothin satisfies my but your soul

    Oh death
    Oh death
Won't you spare me over til another year
Won't you spare me over til another year
Won't you spare me over til another year

Nope. Wrong one. I talked to him today and he said that it is a conversation with death that the Devil had. The Devil asked death if it still had Jesus and death says yes. On day 2 he asks again and Death says yes, rich and powerful, ect. have died and haven't had power over him. On day 3 the Devil tells Death that they should throw a party or whatever and "You still have Him, don't you, Death?" And well, yeah, Death didn't have Him anymore. Anyway, my friend said that they are gonna order a CD with it on there and he'll send it to me when he gets it. It might be a while but I'll post it when I get it. Thanks!

    THE CONVERSATION
In the beginning, God created man
In His own image, formed with His own hand
But Satan, old Satan, tempted man to fall
God had to find a sacrifice to die once and for all
To die once and for all
So He sent His Son to die and oh, the pain He bore
They laid Him in a borrowed tomb, the stone held fast the door
The saints all tell a story I'm about to tell
About a conversation from the pits of Hell
    from the pits of Hell
Tell me death tell me, oh death hear my plea
Do you still have Jesus, or did you set Him free?
This is now the first day, they've laid Him in the ground
Tell me oh death, tell me, can you hold Him down?
    Can you hold Him down?
Satan, oh Satan, Satan hear me well
I promise, oh I promise that I shall not fail
    That I shall not fail
Tell me death, tell me, this is the second day
Do you still have Jesus, or did He get away?
    Did He get away?
Satan, oh Satan, hear me now once more
The greatest kings and rich men have walked through my dark door
This Jesus is no different; He's just a mortal man
And I make this vow to you; He won't escape my hand
    He won't escape my hand
Tell me death, tell me, tell me, don't be slow
Do you still have Jesus, or did you let Him go?
He's been dead for three days, the victory is won
It's time for celebration; we've overcome God's Son
    We've overcome God's Son...Ha, Ha, Ha!!!
Satan, oh Satan, hear me what I say
This morning, oh this morning the stone was rolled away
I just could not stop Him; I could not hold Him down
With power, oh great power, He rose up from the ground!
He rose up from the ground!
He has risen, He has risen
    Death where is your sting?
He has risen, He has risen
    Proclaim Him King of kings!
He has risen, He has risen
    He lives forevermore
He has risen, He has risen
    Proclaim Him Lord of lords!
    Proclaim Him Lord of lords!
