Rufus_1611:The ASV is not the KJV. The ASV is a work of man.

So's the KJV.

The ASV is now public domain. The ASV is not the preserved word of God as it has faded to obscurity and is not preserved.

Why, it is too preserved! it exists, doesn't it?

The other works that I cited are still in play.

So's the ASV. just check around.

The ASV is public domain.

Never said otherwise.

Is their perhaps, just the slightest most remote chance, that you might not know what you are talking about?

There's the same chance you're just GUESSING.

Simply amazing to have no foundation? No final authority but a potpourri of Bibles to pick and choose from?

While YOU have made your own FA that enables to arbitrarily choose one BV & diss all the others. I believe they call it 'GUESSWORK' in the tradition of Deal Or No Deal.

I have been on your side of this fence. I lived most of my lukewarm existence on those soft on sin Bibles. Now, I have found the true word of God and it has changed me. I will not lay down my sword. In the words of David, "there is none like it give it me".

So ya like bringing a sword to a gunfight?

Seems to me that since they have candy coated the Word by removing judgment for sin, and all the other, they have tampered with the Word.

There are copies that exist. Are their publishers pushing it out or are they pushing people to the more popular, more lucrative NASB?

I was accused of saying otherwise. I was confirming that I agreed the ASV to be public domain.

My apologies, but I am unsure of what you speak.

Well, yes. Doesn't every Christian? Do you fight with the sword of the spirit or the gun of the spirit?

Please list examples SFC where you think modern versions are weak on those areas you mentioned . I mean versions other than The Message , Living Bible , CEV , NCV , TEV etc.
Oh, you will get plenty of examples. Anytime a synonym was or is used---that counts---according to the 1769ers (not 1611ers). IMHO:laugh:

No, the purpose of copywriting a book, is to make sure no one pirates the original. Thus a copywrite protects the product. When you buy a copywrited NIV, it is exactly the same as the original NIV...

When you buy a USA KJV, you have no idea what changes the seller made.
In all honesty, it does allow you to keep the profits for a period of time. The reason is that it cost a fortune to translate and edit the NIV (for example). This allows the owner to maintain control to at least pay their HUGE developmental expenses.

But, ALSO, YOUR reason is the number one reason for copyrighting a Bible. If there was no copyright, I could start writing NIV's and sell them saying that murder is not a sin and nobody could stop me.

Besides, there is some confusion here anyway, the KJV used in America today does have a copyright in England.

This is where the terms "Authorized Version" came from. This doesn't mean God authorized anything, all it means is the printer (one of the first two allowed on the 1611 version) would place this on their Bible to let people know it was NOT a bootlegged copy and they had permission of the king to "PRINT" it --- nothing more, nothing less.

Microsoft does the VERY SAME THING when you pick up a box of their software and there are stamps on the package claiming that this is the genuine article and not a bootlegged copy.

It is amazing that this little printing permission statement turned into a "Bible Authorized by God Himself" in many cases.

People need to study their history.:BangHead:

Printers gotta eat, same as us. Aint no law against making money legitimately.

You said people such as I have no one final authority, but a whole host of them. Therefore I told the truth of the matter and said the KJVO has created his/her own final authority by arbitrarily choosing one BV outta all that are available, while dissing all the rest...without one blip of Scripture nor any other evidence establishing any authority to do that. The KJVO simply cannot establish the veracity of that doctrine.

Well, yes. Doesn't every Christian? Do you fight with the sword of the spirit or the gun of the spirit?

I use whatever He provides, be it a sword, a Cub Scout knife, or a nuke, or anything in between.

Why would YOU not be comfortable with a copyrighted Bible version?

As I said in another thread, the author of that article seems to be three fries short of a Happy Meal. It never occurred to him that the British & Americans spell some words a little differently, & that saviour & savior mean exactly the same thing.

At first I thought it was a spoof as the "Landover Baptist Church" is but as I read on I saw Kizziah was dead serious...and dead WRONG!

And if he's using a British KJV edition, it IS copyrighted.

I wonder then, how many times collectively all the members of BB have run afoul of the law?

We Americans aren't that worried...we've been breaking the law since the 18th century...British law, that is. :tongue3:

A point worth noting is that I constantly see people claiming to use the 1611 Authorised Version, when in reality they aren't. I actually do use a 1611 Authorised Version (a reproduction), as my "King James Bible" has more than 66 Books.

Remember: if your "King James Bible" don't have a book called "Baruch," then you ain't got a REAL "King James Bible!!" [sic]

Regards, hope all is well with you,

Here is you a handy-dandy remedy for demon vexation:
smoke of heart (or liver) of fish:

Tobit 6:6-8 (KJV1611 Edition):
Then the yong man saide to the Angel; Brother Azarias,
to what vse is the heart, and the liuer, and the gall of the fish?
7 And he said vnto him, Touching the heart and the liuer,
if a deuil, or an euil spirit trouble any,
we must make a smoke thereof before
the man or the woman, and the party shalbe no more vexed
.
8 As for the gall it is good to anoint a man
that hath whitenesse in his eyes, and he shalbe healed.

Remember you heard it here on BB first of all!!
