On Saturday, December 12, a bizarre rally was held on the Washington Mall. Shofars were blown. A flyover from Marine One was cheered by shouts of praise to the Messiah (evidently distinguished from Jesus). My Pillow founder Mike Lindell shared prophetic visions of Donald Trump.

Beth Moore sounded the alarm, and David French offered wise analysis. Rod Dreher, who just published a book decrying left-wing totalitarianism, wrote that he “began to think that all of this is the right-wing Christian version of Critical Race Theory, and various doctrines held by the woke Left.” Dreher was struck by how enthusiastically evangelicals seemed to participate in the inter-religious festivities. An American-born Israeli man received permission from his Orthodox rabbi to break Shabbat to blow his shofar and another, red-white-and-blue-decorated “Trump Shofar.” Roman Catholic representatives invoked the Virgin Mary and the saints.

Don’t evangelicals reject worship of anyone other than the Triune God—and even the intercession of Mary and the saints?

“But maybe common love for Trump overtakes these theological convictions,” Dreher wrote. My response is: What theological convictions? Idolatry has taken precedence over theology.

While conservative Evangelicals, Catholics, Jews, etc. love and admire President Trump, I don't believe anyone worships him. Liberal members of my own family often accuse me and "right wingers" of viewing Trump as a latter-day Messiah. We don't even "venerate" him in the same sense that Catholics venerate their saints. Simple truth is that we admire this man of courage and conviction who has done so much for our country. No different from admiration for our heroes of the past (e.g. Reagan, Washington, Martin Luther, St. Paul, etc.)

I do not know anyone who Worships Trump. People cheer him on, they admire him, but they also do that to their favorite baseball team. Does the woke Gospel Coalition say the same thing about them?

TGC has shown its true colors over the last year and quite honestly I no longer read/trust them.

I remember when people said that they were in awe of him, as they looked at him almost in Messianic terms!

In the rally that took place for Donald Trump, people from various religions claimed prophetic utterance...including those who self-identify as Christian.

We are addressing a heresy within Christianity whereby a person is being idolized.

I will agree that certain segments of the population admire adoringly people that present themselves as a strong leaders.
It does get out of hand at times, in my opinion.
