The First Indian War:

I take it this is after the colonies became the United States.
Obviously tribes fought, won, and expanded territories for millenniums before any Europeans came to the US. I tend to think of the "French and Indian War" as the start of tribal wars. In that war the British and the French used the Iroquois Nation and Huron Nation as proxy's to control the fur trade. This war brought in many other smaller tribes as fur trading was moving west in search of more beaver.
