I believe there number one purpose is to spread the Word of God through bible distribution. I know they distribute bibles in huge volumes around the world wherever they are permitted, they even have some covert ways of getting the Word out. It's a wonderful thing!

The only connection I have ever had with them was in them passing out the KJV Bible (since it isn't copyrighted...)

Rob....what ever do you mean "Mess With"

Referring to Judges 7 of course. :smilewinkgrin:

Now you got me thinking......THANKS!:laugh:

It's dangerous when you're thinking. :laugh:

We've had one of their representatives come and speak to the church in the past. He seemed to do a fine job representing them. I believe they will come speak at any church and present their ministry to them.

Ha Ha.....no I have been visiting with a church that has a bunch of them there & the pastor was one as well (and a salesman). It would be fun to mess with a salesman. now there is a goal for 2014. :smilewinkgrin:

Gideons = :thumbs:

Any that I've ever known personally have been solid guys. I've always been impressed with the speakers I've heard over the years that have visited the churches I've attended.

What do they speak about?

Just about the work they do. Generally about people coming to know the Lord through reading a Gideon Bible in a hotel room, or hospital, etc. Some of the younger guys probably tell more stories that come from around the country, while the older guys that have been a part of the org for a long time tell more personal stories about giving out a NT at a school or college and their interactions with the recipient. They tell about ways to support but are not high pressure or put the guilt trip on anybody.

The power is in THE WORD!, and the work they are doing is pretty amazing in my opinion. We are currently looking for a church home, so in that transition period the Gideons will be one of several organizations I plan to give to.
