I use mostly cotton handkerchiefs, and my wife uses only disposable tissues. But neither of us is American. Sorry!

Tissue and I find a place...

I'm with others. I cannot imagine placing a snot-filled rag back into my pocket. I grew up with that and mom used the same snot-rag for everything, from blowing noses to wiping off milk from breakfast. YUK!

Talk about spreading disease!

Mostly tissues.

I keep a cotton handkerchief in my pocket, just in case.

Mostly, I use the cotton handkerchief to wipe my brow or mop up watery eyes. I have very early stage macular degeneration and I'm on some prescription vitamins in an effort to forestall the progress of the impairment - the vitamins are also used to treat dry eye, so my eyes tend to water within an hour or two of taking the vitamins.

In a crisis, the handkerchief may get called into service for nose duty, but any "production" gets wrapped into the interior of the hanky, the hanky is taken out of service, and then is washed with the other whites as soon as possible.

And I'm sure that's WAY more information than anyone wanted to know. :smilewinkgrin:

Tissues for allergies, colds and sad movies.

Hankies for funerals because tissue falls apart to easily.

But mostly hankies are used for baptisms! I have a plain white one I made that all three kids used during theirs. Eventually I expect to see my grandchildren use it during their baptisms.

We tend to use tissues but I have also used flannel hankies. I don't use cotton because they are quite harsh on the nose but flannel is very soft.

Both. Tissues for allergies and colds but hankies are handy for teary eyes and I have a bright RED hankie I use during worship services...that red represents the blood of Christ and is often my Amen!

I'm afraid to ask what prompted the idea for this poll.

I was going to put the sleeve in but was fearful of offending. I do the wash for a bunch of blokes. Two are American, and never seem to use anything other than tissues. Christmas gifts are often socks and handerkerchiefs, but the Americans never seem to keep the hankies, just the socks.

I was wondering if it was a cultural thing, and it appears to be so. As the head Wash Wrangler I do not mind this. Enough said.:thumbs:

Ha, I was going to say paper towels too; I tend to blow holes through tissues. :tongue3:
