An interesting article that says it pretty well.

The hatred directed at her is mindless, it is baseless, it is utterly irrational, and it is disturbing to an alarming degree. When we look into the face of the unvarnished and seething meanness focused on Ms. Palin, we are looking into the face of evil. We are looking into the face of Satan himself, who is the ultimate source of this vitriol and toxic hate.

the flesh

I don't doubt that some of the hatred could be demonic. But our flesh is sufficient to provide more than enough hatred.

A far, far reach to attempt to obfuscate the issues.

You know the same could be said for any politician who is strongly disliked by one group or another. Reading some of the thoughts around here about the current President one could (if they applied the article) say demons are running rampant on BB.

Obfuscate the issues?

The issue here is hatred for Palin.

We are not talking about strongly disliked - we are talking about hate.

Please - don't try to change the subject by denying the issue.

Because she quit her job as governor of Alaska?

Because since then she's been cashing in on her name? She's essentially become a celebrity because she ran for Vice President.

Yes, and along with that, she knew she could do more for conservatism and freely debate liberal authors as a free lance writer.

The hatred of the left for Palin really comes down to one thing...fear. She scares them to death. She speaks plainly about issues that are important to Americans and people listen.

The "message" of the left is largely rejected by Americans and she is part of the reason.

The result...fear.

Didn't Bill Clinton quit his job in Arkansas to run for President - after making the explicit promise not to?

Did that disqualify him in your mind?

And what is wrong with making money?

Isn't Bill Clinton making a ton of money giving speeches - simply due to his celebrity because he was President?

I've watched her speak I've seen her interviews. She is where she is because of looks. I'm sorry I just don't care for her, I'm a republican and not liberal. People just blindly follow her.

Thank you for your input.

Are you suggesting that she is hated by the left because of her looks?

I am not sure how your comment applies to the topic.

We aren't talking about Bill Clinton.

Sarah Palin quit her duly elected job as governor of Alaska in order to work on the issues "of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint"

http://politics.usnews.com/news/obam...signation.html

Instead she writes an autobiography, gives speeches, signs on as a commentator on FOX news, acts as a hired gun for Republican candidates in 2010 elections, starts her own TV series, appeared on the TV reality show Kate Plus 8 (or was announced to appear there.)

So how is that work on energy independence or strengthening national security going for her?

In short, she says shes going to do one thing then does another. Wait a minute, I guess she'd be perfect for politics. My bad.

Are you from Alaska ? Do you speak for the people there ? Is Alaske in better shape because of her. moreso than the country fares under Obama ? Are there particular issues in which you disagree with her ? Why can't people take her on those, instead of some slight you feel Alaskans MUST have.

Do you REALLT feel Palin has done NOTHING to help ? I feel the Republicans, as they are, are much better off with her in the mainstream.

I would say she's one of the biggest reasons for the right shift in congress, and that's why she is hated. That is why the left, and the liberal country club republican beltway bunch have to see her destroyed.

At then end of day she is a politician and I don't think there are any "good" politicians out there. Republican, democrat none of them. I don't trust any of them and they all have their hand in someone elses pocket and that my friends is what defines their viewpoints, not their conscience or the will of the people. They may align themselves with a sector of people that will help push their agenda which is most likely the group that is paying the best.

That you would have a certain standard for one politician and another standard for another politician certainly is irrational - but I am not sure if it qualifies as hate.

BTW - how is giving speeches, working as a commentator, promoting other Republicans and having her own show incompatible with working on the issues "of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint"?

Hmmmm... this actually sounds like it may be more than simply a double standard on your part.

Hate?

Not to sure.

I thought you said this thread is about Palin. Why are you the only one allowed to make comparisons?

Palin has found here niche. She fits in well with Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck, the three stooges.

>Is Alaske in better shape because of her

Alaska is the ultimate socialist state! Alaska from its inception has been on (per capita) welfare from the lower 48. Without US government contracts and financial support Alaska would not exist. It is hilarious that anyone from Alaska would tell the lower 48 how to run the country. Alaska has never paid its own way.
