I remember some time ago when a certain group of Roman Catholic apologists on were banned from Baptist Board for proselytizing. Now right on their home page is an advertisement for a FREE Catholic study guide consisting of a 13 part DVD. What hypocrisy. Stated right on the homepage of nenevahscrossing.com's website concerning this guide:
Theologically Approved: "Enjoyable and informative and...are in complete accord with Catholic faith and morals. Dr. Guarendi and Fr. Fete manifest a fine knowledge of Sacred Scripture and are both excellent Catholic apologists." Robert Fastiggi, Ph.D. (Under Canon Law the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur are not available for audio-visual materials, but only for books.)

I guess money will make us do strange things sometimes.

There are also things which are advertised that I doubt many Baptists would agree with. There is a local non-Baptist that advertises on the BB. There are also charismatic seminaries advertising as well. If I remember right they do not have much control over the advertising. Remember Falwell also supports the BB. Perhaps you should write to him as well.

Oops, guess we are human after all.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa... (former Pre-Vatican II Catholics will understand). :)

From my understanding, the RCC users that were banned were done so because they broke the rules in some form or fashion.

That was also under the old owners.

As far as the Ads go, they are Google ads, and the webmaster can stop any ads from showing, but he has to be made aware of them first. Google doesn't give you a ban all <insert bad ad here> command, you have to stop each ad on it's own.

If you email or PM a moderator or Andrew I am sure they will remove any unwanted ad. Also, if you start the BB fund with the first donation, maybe we can get Andrew to remove all the ads? :)

I might be wrong, but it"s my understanding of the way it works.

Also, it is my understanding that the google ads come up as a result of what is discussed. If everybody starts discussing NASCAR or meatloaf recipes, those are the ads that will come up.

To my understanding the individual ads are not selected by the administrators, but I have heard all the mods say before that if you see one that shouldn't be here, let them know and they can get it removed.

Maybe one of the mods or admins can shed some light on this?

I don't know or understand the details, but the google ads that appear are directly related to what the subject matter is in the thread that is being viewed. I have noticed this, personally, not because someone mentioned it.

They are google ads, and google is the one in control of which ones we get. Which ads we see are based on key words on the page you are viewing at the time. Andrew can remove them, buthas to remove each one individually, you have to let him know which ones are showing up, if you don't let him know he doesn't know they are there and need to be taken care of. It we see an offensive ad we are responsable for letting him know.
Those RCC who were banned were banned for real reasons, I do kow they were causing a lot of problems and arguments and a lot of name calling, this palyed a part in their banning I am sure.

I have seen some objectionable advertisements, I reported this to the BaptistBoard folks and they responded in quick order to ban those ads...http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=36167. What did the BaptistBoard leadership do when you brought this to their attention before you took to calling them hypocrites?

It's real easy to call someone a hipocrite.
It's even easier to place the blame on money grubbing ads.

BUT HAVE YOU DONATED TO THE BAPTIST BOARD THIS YEAR???

    Sadly, I haven't.... YET.

Let's all plan to donate a part of our tax returns to the BB.

They're right, the baptist board isn't free, and it's a large site, so it costs to run the bb. If you haven't donated to it's up keep, and you haven't reported the offensive ad, then I see you have no legitimate cause to call anyone a hypocrite, as you haven't done all you could.

I agree that the use of ads is not hypocrisy by itself.

Yet, I have noticed some hypocritical actions.

Let us pray for the BB'ers who got influenced toward Catholicism because Andrew didn't get the ads banned in time.

    It'll only take a sec.

Hypocrisy indeed. I have been the recipient of it. I will most likely be spanked or banned for even saying that. There is a definite bias and if I mention the issue I am sure certain ones will pull out their board of hypocritical control and smack me with it.

The free marked most likely explains the ads. But the bias of some mods is obvious.

So, if you don't hear from me again for a while or indefinitely you will know what happened.

So if we discuss the damage that porn does to a Christian's witness, we will get ads to porn sites?
