EXCLUSIVE: Inside Venezuela: Starved Families Scavenge for Food in Garbage-Covered Streets - Breitbart

EXCLUSIVE: Inside Venezuela: Starved Families Scavenge for Food in Garbage-Covered Streets

CARACAS, Venezuela – Driving through the streets of Caracas, it is impossible not to notice the ubiquitous government propaganda on the sides of buildings and scores of armed police.
Even harder to avoid, however, is the garbage.

On almost every street corner, stacks of waste can be seen piled up, some of it in black bags, but other items in limbo such as water bottles, diapers and occasionally food waste.

Around almost every pile of garbage, a crowd had formed, rifling through it for scraps to eat. From schoolchildren to the elderly, even to those in work uniform, many Venezuelans are resorting to scavaging just to survive. A recent report found that over 15 percent of people scavenge as a means of survival.

Socialism is for the people, not the socialists. Nicolaus Maduro and his ruling cronies have plenty to eat - as does the army and the police. Everyone else must scavenge like rats.

Venezuela, under the thumb of Raul Castro and the Cuban military that has been trained for decades by the KGB to be an elite force, has used starvation as a political tool just as has been done in all communist countries such as the Soviet Union, China, North Korea, and Cuba. The American left idolized Hugo Chavez and upon his death transferred their idol worship to the former bus driver Nicolas Maduro. The daughter of Chavez still lives in the Venezuelan presidential palace and has a bank account of some five billion dollars.

Venezuela has oil reserves more vast than Saudi Arabia but the "engineers" running the oil fields into disrepair and malfunction are not engineers at all but socialistic hacks, cronies of Maduro.

The Venezuelan police and military are engaging openly in criminal activities--robbing and attacking the general public openly (also a practice in Cuba, needless to say).

Beat me to it.

Not every Socialist Country is as described in the OP, but I would much rather be freer to pursue my own idea of happiness.

I understand. Is it possible that you would feel more free being relieved of worries about health care not running you into bankruptcy?

I am curious, what if your idea of pursuing happiness?

The only fascists in America are the extreme far left liberals. The most anti-freedom,anti-america there has ever been. Some of them on this board.

Why is it that the Democrats always point to the white socialistic countries as ideal but never the non-white socialistic countries? Also, we know that in the case of Europe they are all but a few deadbeats when it comes to paying their fair share of the defense burden. So the Democrats keep pointing over and over to the deadbeat Europeans as a role model.

Ah, so now you are saying the left is fascists and that means they are not socialists. Like Trump you keep changing your facts.

Uh, you are aware, are you not, that the worst fascist government in our history was the government formed by the National Socialist Party?

And since the subject of the thread is Venezuela and the easily predicted collapse of socialism there, we might look and another case of Italian-style socialism in Argentina, which just found in Buenos Aires a huge collection of high-end Nazi souvenirs. Suffice it to say that Argentina might be the most repressive socialistic state in Latin America.

Venezuela is so sad....

And if you know anything about Hitler and his Nationalist Socialist Party you know he hated socialism. Also, if you known anything about political philosophy your know that fascism and socialism are not the same.

The Myth: Adolf Hitler, starter of World War 2 in Europe and driving force behind the Holocaust, was a socialist.

The Truth: Hitler hated socialism and communism and worked to destroy these ideologies. Nazism, confused as it was, was based on race, and fundamentally different from class focused socialism.

The German National Workers Party changed its name in 1920 to include the word Socialist in order to attract people from Germany's largest political party, the Social Democratic Party. The use of the word "Socialist" in a political party name in the early 20th century was more of a strategic branding opportunity to attract working people to vote than it was a declaration of a political policy.

Hitler himself changed the name of the party.

Does anyone deny that Chavez/Maduro are socialists or that Raul Castro is a communist?

You are talking apples and oranges.

No one has said that Chavez, etc. are not Communists. By being Communists they are not fascists.

Does not matter what Hitler did or did not do with the name. He was not a socials. He was a fascist.

Let me help you understand the difference:

Fascism
Let’s start with the most easily confused. Fascism.

Fascism is best described as a merging of corporate and government interests. In simpler terms, it’s when corporations have taken over the government. This is also called a Oligarchy because the wealthy control the entire country. Mussolini states that the corporations were the most important part of a country and that the government should work with them to make a better country. He created this merger and called it Fascism to differentiate it from Socialism.

One of the signature characteristics of Fascism is “belligerent nationalism.” This is the practice of saying our country is exceptional and don’t you dare tell me otherwise.

Another, more modern term for Fascism is Corporatism.

Well, if Fascism isn’t Socialism, then what is Socialism?

Socialism
Socialism is where people are directly involved in the production of goods and services, things like cooperatives where the workers are the owners of the businesses. This doesn’t mean the government owns and manages the businesses. The business exists for the sake of providing for society, or the social good.

We’ve posted here many times about the socialistic bent of America’s forefathers. Socialism was such a fundamental inclination that our government is defined as “We The People.”

The corporatists in America try to hide this fact and purposely confuse socialism with fascism and communism.

Yes, yes. Why? To appeal to a wider audience, not because they were Socialists. The use of the word "Socialist" in a political party name in the early 20th century was more of a strategic branding opportunity to attract working people to vote than it was a declaration of a political policy.
