The Lord of the Rings

I liked it, I thought it was pretty action packed. I just don't like having to wait another year to see the end!

I thought it was great! I didn't like the second movie as much as the first but many others I've talked to disagree.

Definitely "PG". I wouldn't take a child to see it, although I saw quite a few kids in the movie theater when my wife and I went.

It is as close an adaption of the book that can be made. I was impressed! It helps if you have read the book but you really don't need to.

 

I would disagree, I thought the filmmakers made some unnecessary choices regarding changes.

Overall as a standalone movie, it is really good. The only criticism is it's a tad long.

I agree with Deacon that it is for older kids.

As an adaption though, it really fails in several places, although only one change really ruined the movie for me. In my mind, it was very, very critical.

Definately worth watching, though.

And was anyone else really disappointed with some really obvious bluescreen work? I was torn out of the story because of it.

The problem always present in adapting page to screen is extensive prose. I mean, you don't want too much exposition in your film, but at the same time, it's ridiculously difficult to film 50 pages of straight philosophical prose, if not impossible. So, you lose a lot in the simplification. Much was lost here.

 

Very much enjoyed it, but there were some unnecessary changes to characters and plot that did not improve plot or flow, they were just unnecessary changes.

I've been a huge Middle-Earth fan for the past twenty years and thought the movie was great! Sure there are some things changed for the screen, but overall it was amazing. My son wants to get into film and said he almost cried during some of the battle scenes because they were so amazing.

Movies can be viewed in two ways; with an eye for entertainment or an eye for critique. One must make a choice; you can always find something wrong with a movie (such as problems with blue-screen effects), but it's a small price to pay for being whisked into another world for two (in this case three) hours.
