This weekend we're supposed to witness a solar eclipse where the moon turns blood red.

It always turns red during a lunar eclipse. Eco-nuts have been trying to tell us for years that it "suddenly" started doing this because of all of Earth's "air pollution" but the fact is, the atmosphere around the Earth has always prevented the shadow from being totally dark, like the Moon darkens the Earth (check out satellite photos from space of the lunar shadow's path across the Earth's face) during a solar eclipse. The Moon has no atmosphere to bend light waves so that the shadow's colors shift into the red spectrum.

The passage from Joel predicts a time when the Moon will take on a red shade without being eclipsed, [edit] in my opinion.

Does Scripture say it will happen without the eclipse process, or, are you practicing eisegesis? If it says it happens without an eclipse, do share.

Isn't it quite possible that God knew when there would be an eclipse and when the prophecy would take place, and that they both 'happened' to coincide?

That's beside the point. That was "extra information" -- an aside, if you will -- regarding the fact that the Moon always appears red during a lunar eclipse. It was probably an unnecessary inclusion, and somewhat confusing. My apologies.

I didn't say so, but yes, it's an opinion. (I've now placed an edit in the post stating that.) It wouldn't be much of a "miracle" or "sign" if it was a normal lunar eclipse would it? Nor would we know for certain it was a sign from God, as the passage implies, if was just a normal event.

Oh, I don't know, I can see God's glory in His knowing the two coincide.

How would we not know it was a sign from God when it was prophesied beforehand and happened? Whether it happened without an eclipse is beside the point. It happened and that is enough, and it happened because He said it would.

Give me a break, this...!!! All I did was provide a link to a story that appeared on World Net Daily this morning for which I thought was a bit interesting.

As such, I have no desire to engage in any conversation regarding the scientific fact(s) regarding the cycles of our heavenly bodies; when they will eclipse; who will see them; what NASA has to say about it nor when the next full moon will happen. In addition, I don't find myself excited over what John Hagee, Billy Graham, Charles Stanley or Billy Sunday back from the grave might have to say about it.

When the time comes according to the Lord's will then it will happen.

May I suggest you take a couple of aspirins, perhaps a little nap and you'll feel better when you get up.

Otherwise, go impress someone else with your knowledge, skills and abilities. I'm retired and really don't care to entertain you.

Now, is there any part of the above you don't understand?

I post a link about the moon and (copy & paste) a line of scripture from the article (along with my SOURCE) and first thing..., wham!!! Eco-nuts!!! That established the setting!

I just wonder why I'm not smart enough to distinguish an ECO-NUT from the rest of the nuts?

You see..., an Eco-NUT is one who posts an article on this forum regarding an article about the moon..., along with A SOURCE for the article. The perceived innuendo and insinuation..., albeit, on my part, appears to have been aimed dead center. :BangHead:

A corn-nut on the other hand is consumable, no? Chocked full of chemicals but consumable never-the-less

From Earth, there are at least two lunar eclipses a year. The book of Joel was written in about 827 B.C. That means there have been almost 5,700 lunar eclipses since he wrote the passage. How many times has the prophecy been uttered that the "Day of the LORD" is come, falsely, as it turns out? How many times has that prophecy been uttered, falsely, as a lunar eclipse approaches? I can think of four such cases since I became a Christan a bit over 20 years ago.

Additionally, there has been much speculation that over the next two years, lunar eclipses coincide with the Jewish feasts of Passover and of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles). But it isn't the first time that's happened. In fact, similar lunar eclipses in back-to-back years have happened seven times since the time of Christ. Some of those have occurred in years of significance for the Jewish people. One was in 1948 when Israel was granted rebirth as a nation, and again in 1967 when the Six-Day War was fought. Did anything of biblical significance happen then? Well, Israel's rebirth was significant, but it is obvious that is not what Joel prophesied. That event was prophesied by Ezekiel. The war was not prophesied at all, despite war being prophesied for Israel in the Old Testament. Any significant event at any other time in association with a blood-Moon? No.

Will anything of biblical significance happen in the next two years? I can't say for sure. Neither can anyone else. But I do not expect God to act in conjunction with a known celestial event. Though He has put all such events in motion and order, He generally acts in very unexpected ways, such as causing the Sun to pause for a day in the sky, or making it retreat when Hezekiah asked for a sign.

For that reason, I don't believe a lunar eclipse has anything to do with the "blood-Moon" prophecy of Joel. I could be wrong. I believe nonetheless it will be
a complete and total surprise to all of us on Earth, believer or not.
