Well....it's not April Fool's yet....or is it? Maybe we're not here, maybe we're on the moon and what we see at night is the Earth.....Maybe women aren't women and men aren't men! Maybe women are men and men are women! Oh.....what is this world coming to?! {gets tapped on the shoulder} Oh...sorry, didn't realize this wasn't the twilight zone! ;)

AGREED. The font is extremely difficult to read. Seems like the letters are not "solid" but broken or jagged rather than smooth.

Or maybe too much coffee . . .

Granny, I actually let out a guffaw when I read that!

The "font" is the style of the lettering that you see on the webpage. When you type in a reply box you are using a font called "Times New Roman." When you read a post on the board you are looking at a font called "Verdana." The index page uses this same font bolded.

I do not believe that we have changed fonts. It may be something in your computer, Jude. The nature of this type of web page is that your computer reads the HTML code and interprets it for display. If the particular font is not recognized by the computer it will go to a default, usually "Arial" or "Times New Roman" I believe.

Mine gives me Arial, almost exclusively. When
am I ever going to hook up that other computer
and get rid of this WebTV? Aaaarghhh!

Thanks, Bro.Clint! The Farmer's Wife said she did the same thing...only she said she half-way expected to see me put "EVEN SO, COME, LORD JESUS!" that I do from time to time. [IMG]

The only thing I could see "different" is there aren't any moderators listed like before. Looks nice.

That was done as an effort to conserve more bandwidth. The index page is the most accessed page on the site (understandably) and so trimming the moderator list off takes less energy to load it. "EVEN SO..." ;)

Main Entry: guf·faw
Pronunciation: (")g&-'fo, 'g&-"fo
Function: noun
Etymology: imitative
Date: 1720
: a loud or boisterous burst of laughter
- guf·faw /(")g&-'fo/ intransitive verb

It's kind of a fancy way of saying I "ha-yucked." [IMG]

Ok so if I was drinking my coffe and read this whole topic...and I bursted into laughter as I was drinking...that would be guffaw (ing).

Cool.

guffaw. Ok....using it in a sentence....ummmm...I don't like the sound. Do you?

Clint guaffaw (ed) at GrannyGumbo's post.

I like the guffaw... I also like the chuckle, the cackle, the titter, the giggle, the snort is my all-time favorite...and any combination thereof.

Granny... don't feel bad about not knowing what a font is... it's a typestyle is all, and there are hundreds of different ones to chose from... some plain and some rather imaginative.

And as far as the font being different... I don't see any difference...But upon entering this site... the "Baptist Board" logo is missing... oh well. It's not scripturally correct anyway... guffaw, titter, giggle, snort. [IMG]

I'm NOT KIDDING! The font is awful. I've tried checking everything on my computer. Other web sites don't have this font. Somehow, someway, this font is coming thru on Baptist Board.

The font of the BB is standard Arial.

If you see anything else, it's your browser settings - try "View" -> "Encoding" -> and let me know what you see . . .

I have noticed a longer delay in moving from one item to the next, but everything looks alright to me.

I'd appreciate some help to diagnose this problem. I'm on AOL, and have tried looking at 'MY AOL' and "Preferences' and 'font', setting it to ARIAL, and still the difficult font remains on BB.

Jude - I'll move this topic to the computer forum. Perhaps one of the folks up there may have an idea or two. [IMG]
