Found in the Appendix of History of the Waldenses by Adam Blair (1832)

Taken as a whole, I don't think I could accept this as an example of early Baptists. There seems to be more of an emphasis on works righteousness, rather than on salvation by faith alone in Jesus.

(Along with some other statements that stand out as quite non-Baptist.)

From page 482:

"... this ought they to do who are pastors,
They ought to preach to the people, and pray with them,
And feed them often with divine doctrine;
And chastise the sinners with discipline,
Namely, by declaring that they ought to repent.
First, that they confess their sins freely and fully,
And that they repent in this present life,
That they fast and give alms, and pray with a fervent heart,
For by these things the soul finds salvation..."

Given the last line, I don't think this can be seen as representative of early Baptist thought.
