The Other One: A Question

Again the next day after
John stood,
and two of his disciples;
And looking upon Jesus as he walked,
he saith,
Behold the Lamb of God!
And the two disciples heard him speak,
and they followed Jesus.
John 1:35-37

One of the two which heard John speak,
and followed him, was Andrew,
Simon Peter's brother.
John 1:40

Who was the other disciple of John, the companion of Andrew?

The Bible just does not state that answer. Some have tried to make it be John, as he did not name himself when talking about himself, but we just don't know.

If you are referring to the Apostle John, nowhere is he identified as a former follower of John the Baptist but I suppose it could be so.

And yes, as far as I know the bible does not state who the other fellow was.

Also, other than Andrew, I don't think any other followers of John the Baptist are identified by name but certainly some switched over to follow Jesus of Nazareth as John the Baptist said, "He must increase but I must decrease." John 3:30

The other disciple of John the Baptist could possibly be Philip, later an apostle, with Andrew.

Much of this comes from the Gospel of John, chapter 1.

He was with Andrew, the disciple of John who was Identified:

One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him (Jesus), was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
1:40

This other disciple with Andrew, followed Jesus and spent time, along with Andrew, alone with Him.

They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day.
1:39

Philip and Andrew, also Peter, were all from the same town.

They most likely were friends and grew up together.

Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
1:44

Philip maintained a close relationship with Andrew and worked together.

(Greeks seeking Jesus)

Philip cometh and telleth Andrew:
and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
John 12:22

Just speculating.
