    The Pilgrim Church by E.H. Broadbent, anyone read it? What do you think of it?

    It's a book written by a Plymouth Breathern that details the history of the Christian church from the Apostalic Era to Charles Spurgeon. It's very interesting reading. The Author seems to hold to a spiritural kin relationship amoung the true churches. I have heard from some others that a few people he groups in with Orthodox Christians denied the Trinity so I was wondering what others though of his research.

    Oh, I understand that the PB are orthodox in their view of the Trinity, the arguemnt I've seen about the book is towards E.H. Broadbent, the authors, creditability as a researcher. The person in question is Barton Stone who I am told denied the Trinity (I've never heard of him before reading the section abotu him in the book), yet Broadbent writes favorable of him.

    Thats disapointing, but not suprising. I still think that Pillgrims chruch is overall a good book, but on some specifics more reseach may be required.

    Does anyone know of a solidly researched book on Church history, specificly on the time from the Apostles to the Reformation. I'm looking to find out more about the early chruches outside of Rome.

    I happen to like A. H. Newman, Manual of church History, 2 vols., Philadelphia, 1900-03. It might be hard to find, but I have seen a few on the net at a reasonable price.

    Two people on the Board are best on history. Find their names ad send them a pm. Either one would be pleased to give you their advice. R.L. Vaughan or Jeff Weaver. Both are considered our resident historians...look on the church history forum.
