Watching a re-run of The Brady Bunch.
Greg suspects the "boyfriend" of Marcia is stealing plays of his football plays.

So Greg makes up a fake playbook - puts it in plain sight.
The "boyfriend" does steal the playbook

Dad tells Greg what he did was dishonest.

Greg calls the boyfriend - tells him the book is fake
the friend thinks that Greg is only trying to fake him out.

    What say you

PS - Gregs team ends up winning the game.

Does Marcia's boyfriend go to a different high school than Greg?

That's kind of like the people who broke into my friends shop. The third time he had a bunch of trot lines with 3/0 trebble hooks hanging everywhere "drying." It's a shame that burglar got all tied up in one and bled everywhere like a stuck pig. They didn't catch him, but there has not been a 4th time.

Lying to others for our own benefit is condemned in God's word. However, when acting under cover of authority, lying is condoned. There are several accounts from WWII where allied forces mislead the enemy to save lives, like the "man who never was" ploy.

Too often we see people justifying lying to "protect family" (Clinton) or some other justification, like a "white" lie. We should always remember Satan is the father of lies.

In today's culture lying is accepted. We see "Murder She Wrote" show after show where the killer is lied to in order to entrap. Two wrongs are taught to result in right.

A correct understanding of reality is the truth we all desire, and falsehoods (intentional or accidental) blind us such that pain suffering and death result.

Our culture does not value truth, and thus scampers from the Light.

Reminds me of a logger with whom I once worked. He would keep a 5-gallon can of gas in his shed, and a neighbor several times snuck in to grab the can and pour the gas into his pickup tank. So the guy refilled the can, added a cup of sugar, and watched the thief wreck his own engine.

I have seen engines get "sweetened up" on quite a few occasions.
