What he said was, "That edifice of character is built in families, supported by communities with standards, and sustained in our national life by the truths of Sinai, the Sermon on the Mount, the words of the Koran, and the varied faiths of our people."

Tell me how that sentence in any way equates the Koran to the Bible. It is merely a mirror that reflects correctly the multi-ethnic and varied religious climate that exists in our country.

Yep. He said the "words" of the Koran, not the "truths" of the Koran.

He is referrring to "the truths" of the Koran. The word "truths" is being modified by
1. "of Sinai"
2. "the Sermon on the Mount"
3. "the words of the Koran"
4. "the varied faiths of our people"

He is saying that "the edifice of character" is sustained by the truths of the 4 things listed above.

That is clearly equating the 4 things listed as being of equal worth in the area of character. Naturally, I strongly disagree.

But this is not surprising as Bush as said Islam is a religion of peace and he has referred to the Koran as being a revelation from God:

What I find interesting is that this a place for Christians to share ideas, beliefs and opinions keeping a Christline attitude. I'm sorry but I did not find Jesus with the same attacking, sarcastice, prideful attitudes that I find here. If you don't like Bush, fine. The Bible makesa it very clear that we are to respect his authority; it also says that we should love our neighbor as ourself. I doubt that we would demean ourselves with such tasteless attitudes, why do we demean others?

 

What I find interesting is that apparently you only find fault with those who are critical of the President's policies.

Sigh. Everybody hears what they want to hear regardless of the facts.

 

I don't mind if anyone criticizes his policies. In fact, I do not agree with every policy he has stated. You take it far beyond that;just be a man and admit it! You remind of one of somoene who just sits out in the pew and criticizes EVERYTHING the preacher says and does. Pretty easy to criticize when you are not in that position, huh. You know I think you should run for office next time; I mean you do have all the answers, right?

 

Oh, now I'm not "being a man". Like I said, it looks like your criticism is pretty politically motivated, and perhaps you need a mirror.

If you had a preacher who was not faithful to the essentials of the faith, would you remain silent?

I don't criticize everything Bush does. Just things like:

1. Wild, out-of-control spending on social programs, adding MASSIVE debt to a fiscal situation already strained by his overseas adventures.

2. Push for amnesty for illegal immigrants, as well as practically unrestrained immigration, unheard of in other nations.

3. Repeated political actions that advance the homosexual agenda.

4. Support for Abortion Specter in the GOP primary, against a pro-life candidate, giving him the critical boost in a close election.

5. INCREASING federal subsidies to Planned Parenthood to record levels.

6. Working with Ted Kennedy to make record strides in the federalization of education, with associated massive spending and measures that cost local school districts millions, and remove local control.

7. Socializing medicine through the medicare bill, which is forecasted to cost hundreds of billions of dollars. Hillary was unable to do this, since "conservatives" opposed her...but not Bush.

8. Praising Islam as a great religion, and stating that it is a way to God apart from Jesus Christ.


See? It's just a few little points that bother me.

I said nothing sarcastic. I was pointing out something he said in his inauguration speech that is very disturbing. I also posted two quotes from what he has said in the past about Islam.

There is nothing unbiblical about that.
