I was given the DVD 'The Quest For Authentic Manhood" a presentation for dicipleship given, by Robert Lewis by another brother in my church. I have not seen any of this material before, but our church has started using it in the young adults male ministery. are any of you brothers familiar with this?

this partial description on the site advertising the book:

    http://www.lifeway.com/lwc/shopping_product_page/0,1711,I%253D1415822956%2526M%253D50005,00.html

"Imagine the transforming power of men coming together within your church to honestly examine their lives and take the courageous steps necessary to embrace authentic biblical manhood. That is the goal of Men's Fraternity, the three-year men's ministry curriculum developed by Robert Lewis."

these statements alone would have me running, not walking in the opposite direction.

    definition of fraternity:
Noun 1. fraternity - a social club for male undergraduates
    frat
gild, guild, lodge, club, society, order - a formal association of people with similar interests; "he joined a golf club"; "they formed a small lunch society"; "men from the fraternal order will staff the soup kitchen today"
chapter - a local branch of some fraternity or association; "he joined the Atlanta chapter"
    2. fraternity - people engaged in a particular occupation; "the medical fraternity"
    sodality, brotherhood
class, social class, socio-economic class - people having the same social or economic status; "the working class"; "an emerging professional class"
brother - a male person who is a fellow member (of a fraternity or religion of other group); "none of his brothers would betray him"
    sodalist - a member of a sodality

in other words it's a secular concept sort of like promise keepers or free masonry - that draws men away from Biblical mandates for living and into a perspective of elevating man's wisdom over God's.

my question would be - is not God's Word enough? Or perhaps Jesus was mistaken when He said the His Spirit would lead and guide us into all truth. Or when He said: If you continue in MY WORD, you shall have the truth, and the truth shall make you free".

eloidalmanutha seems right... this stuff would have me running in the other direction at any rate.
The line "our church has started using ... " wherein "..." is not the Bible usually would have me running in the other direction too. What's wrong with actually expositing from the actual Bible any more...

The answer is: Do as Jesus did when He made disciples and trained them to make disciples.
