    The WSJ is interested in the welfare of the working people?

    There is no energy crisis.

    Part of the point was that we do not currently have a climate suitable for exploration and developement of new oil fields, presumably because of environmental laws, and layers of bureaucracy restricting these activities. Also it's easier to purchase our needs on the open market, which leaves us increasingly at the mercy of those countries unfriendly to our interests.

    Who is "we," Kemosabe? "Our" oil companies are owned mostly by European companies. Any profit from Alaskan oil will go to Swiss banks.

    The price of crude is determined by the commodities market. More Alaskan oil will not reduce the price of gasoline. Better to burn the Arab oil first.
