The Riddle of Relativism v Endowed by Creator

I was watching Glenn Beck just now and he was making a big deal about when obama left out the word "Creator" when referring to Inalienable Rights... (Twice)

I immediately flashed back to a Lecture by Dr. Walter Martin, titled The Riddle of Relativism in which he told a scenario where a Jew was brought before a Nazi and every time the Jew told the Nazi he couldn't do something, the Nazi replied why? I answer to no one but hitler...

The point is this, if we allow the basis for our rights to cease to be tied to The Highest Power, we end up being subject to the whim of whatever human happend to be in charge at the time.

That is, it's relative to he who holds the power...

So, when the president, not once but twice, intentionally leaves out a reference to rights being given by Our Creator. (Intentionality is based on the fact that the official White House transcript released before the speech left it out.)

He is really saying that our rights are at the whim of his regime...

Which is exactly the path Germany followed to Nazism!

Who grants our rights **IS** Important!

Words have meaning.

Both the ones spoken *and* the ones left out!

Its not what you say that counts, its what you don't say that doesn't count - thats what counts

Where does your Bible "say" that we have a right to "life, liberty, and the right to run after being happy?" My Bible "says" we are either a slave of God or a slave of Satan.

Bill,

if you really don't believe that Jesus came to give us Life and that Life Abundantly,

if you really don;t believe that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty,

if you really don't believe that Jesus came to free us and liberate us in both the Physical and Spiritual Realms...

if you really don't believe that American was founded on Chrstian Principles...

if you really think you are to be an ascetic I am sure there are a *lot* of people who would contribute for you to go join a temple or monestary. :D

1Co 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Rom 8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Doesn't get much clearer than that!

And, it can even be used as a basis for US exporting what Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness we as a Nation have left.

Whether, you believe it or not the Declaration of Indepdence, and the Original US Constitution are documents bathed in Christian thought and Principles...

"Freedom" is a mental state and has nothing to do with economics or politics. Anyone who can think, "screw you," is free. That is the sense in which Christianity made us free."

WOW!!!!

I guess this means that as long as I can see Monday nite football and fill my 13 YO truck with gas occasionally, I shouldn't give a happy rip what the "0" and his cohorts intent on ruining our country are doing! Man, that's a load off my shoulders!!!!:BangHead:

Sarcasm over, but I too would love to see the biblical basis for this concept AS STATED.

"Freedom" is a spiritual state that has nothing to do with ecomonics or politics.

Anyone who can cry out in their heart "I was a blind and now I see, repent, and believe...Thank you Lord Jesus" is free from sin and the wrath of God that is to come on all ungodliness.

That is the sense in which our Lord Jesus made us free.

What you said is a big ol smelly pile of new-age cowpie.

peace to you:praying:

I feel sure I must have misunderstood your post, Bill. I cannot make the usual (polite) meaning of of the verb "screw" (to fasten something with screws) fit what you wrote, but the only alternatives seem to be:

to screw: an offensive term meaning to have s*xual intercourse with somebody (slang)

to screw: an offensive term expressive of anger or frustration with somebody or something (slang)

You cannot, I'm sure, mean that Christ came to give us the freedom to think of other people in such offensive ways, but it leaves me wondering what you did mean.

You people are supposed to know your Bible and if you don't . . . "Strongs" is very useful. I should spoon feed Baptists?

So just show yourself as being very tolerant of us "biblical illiterates" and "spoon feed" us just this once, OK?:1_grouphug:

The Bible teaches no concept of freedom. We are either slaves of God or slaves of Satan.

I agree with that, Bill, but I still don't understand what you meant about the freedom to think "Screw you". Surely it is if we are still slaves of Satan that we are free to think offensive thoughts about other people.
