The Rising Tide

The Rising Tide by Jeff Shaara is the first book in his trilogy on World War II. The trilogy, like his other books, are historical novels. Historically accurate they must be called novels, fiction, as he writes dialogue by the characters in his book, i.e. Eisenhower, Rommel, Kesserling, Montgomery, Mark Clark, Harold Alexander, Hitler, Churchill, etc. As we do not know exactly what these men said the books cannot be considered history.

The first book in the trilogy covers the North Africa and Sicilian campaigns. Well written, this is an interesting read.
