The Silent Majority in Middle East Seeks Peace

We should listen to our brothers and sisters in Christ who live in the Mid-East have to say. After all they live there. They are not dependent on biased media reports.

Despite the undeniable fact that Christians are an "endangered species" in the Middle East, Martin Accad of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) suggested that a narrative that sees all Muslims as predators waiting to kill Christians is profoundly unhelpful.

Most religious people in the region – Muslims, Jews, Christians and others – make up what Accad called a "silent majority" that is "tired of fanaticism but not attracted to a secularist solution."

Accad, himself an Arab Christian born in Lebanon, said that the narrative of a threatened Christian minority in the Middle East needs to change if positive change is to be made a reality in the region.

He said that though most Middle Eastern Christians live daily lives among Muslim neighbors who, like them, seek only a peaceful life in which they can provide for their families, sanitizing or optimistically mythologizing past and present hurts was a mistake.

A friend of mine is a missionary in southern Europe and evangelizes Moslems in his country as well as northern Africa.

I won't go into much detail because identification can often be deadly.

He had such high hopes during the 'Arab Spring'.
He felt it would greatly open up the area to Christian witness.

I hated to be the one to dash his hopes and I kept silent...
but my fears unfortunately were well founded.

The 'Arab Spring' was a springboard into further radicalism.
Currently frightful persecution of Christians abounds among Moslem countries even in established old Christian communities. Christians must walk very carefully.

Outspoken Christians are very rare within Moslem countries and constantly receive threats to themselves, their home, family and community.

The 'silent majority' of Moslems are uneducated and Moslem by culture rather than by belief.
A Muslim becomes radicalized simply by reading the Koran and becoming indoctrinated into true beliefs of Islam, which is intolerant of infidels.

Boy, since the "silent majority" says nothing, one may assume it seeks anything.

We just got done having a missions conference concentrated on Muslims in our church. There were three born again former Muslim speakers. They all said that devout Muslims hate Christians, hate Jews too, in fact, one of the speakers told a story about how he (years before he converted to Christ) and his friends attacked a Christian classmate and then met him 25 years later.

So maybe not all Muslims are predators waiting to kill Christians but practicing Muslims likely are.

Accad, himself an Arab Christian born in Lebanon, said that the narrative of a threatened Christian minority in the Middle East needs to change if positive change is to be made a reality in the region.

The only way there will be positive change in the Middle East is if more Muslims come to Jesus.

I'm not really worried about what you would take. You are going to take whatever the DNC tells you too anyway.

The Silent Majority in Middle East Seeks Peace

The idea of the existence of a "silent majority" has always struck me as dubious.

As for the majority wanting peace, whoever has the weapons and the power wants it only on their terms.

Copts are being murdered daily in Egypt. About 2/3rds of Islamists believe in honor killings and female genital mutilation. I would like to know who these moderates are but I know they are silent or they will be murdered, too. The best thing that we can do is stop buying oil in the middle east and stop allowing Islamists to migrate to the USA.

For a good example of what happens when Islam drives out all foreigners and all Christians and Jews, look at Algeria. When the French were expelled, a bloodbath began and goes on to this day.
