The stronger the faith, the stronger the testing

There was an evangelist that came of our Church many years ago, that was the title of one of his sermons.

He began explaining that we born-again believers are either in the fire of testing, just came out of the fire, or on our way into the fire. It's a never ending process of sanctification by the Holy Spirit to increase our faith and dependence on Him, or show us that our faith is wavering.

He said the Lord watches over all that testing ensuring it's not more than we can bear, it can be bitter, it can bring us to the point of despair and hopelessness, but it is always intended for our good and not our harm. The goal is spiritual maturity, as Peter said, "receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls."

Some of us will face stronger testing than others, but always the right amount, though it may seem at the time more than we can bear. The Lord is always near unto them who are of a broken heart. The broken heart can lead us closer to Christ, or apart from Christ, always revealing where we are for our own good.

I pray it will lead us all closer to Christ.

Do you remember his name? That sounds familiar.
