There was no Frenchman who was shot. A Frenchman had encountered the gunman, but did not take any action.However, it was the Frenchman who was shot taking the initial action.
His identity was not revealed until yesterday the 24th. At the time of my original post (the 23rd), he was being referred to as an "unidentified Frenchman".CNN said:As an adult he moved to France where he worked as a translator and English teacher for business professionals.
