We always think of the French as being so anti-American, but these events show a different side, and they have been very generous in their thanks. We are after all allies in many ways.

An American, Mark Moogalian, was the first person who took action and wrestled the AK-47 out of the hands of the terrorist. He was shot with a pistol for his trouble.

I believe you're referring to Mark Moogalian. Who in the report below is identifies as "Franco-American".

As an adult he moved to France where he worked as a translator and English teacher for business professionals. His website says he's a artist, teacher and musician and recently published a novel.


Moogalian has dual citizenship and has been living in France for almost two decades, Julia Moogalian said. He traveling on the train with his wife and their dog, Benny.

His identity was not revealed until yesterday the 24th. At the time of my original post (the 23rd), he was being referred to as an "unidentified Frenchman".
