The UN and the Great Commission

There is another thread talking about the UN and it's headquarters in NY.

Instead of derailing that thread, I wanted to start a thread related to that with a question I have about such subjects.

For my question, please base your answers on Bibical stances only, not opinions or "modern day politics"

Question:

What does this have to do with us and the Great Commission?

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.


I am not trying to "stir" the pot of this debate. I ask because I really would like to know.

Isn't the Great Commission what we're here for, and if so, then shouldn't we ask how a subject reflects or pertains to the Great Commission?

I asked only because I didn't know enough about the UN so, I went to Google and found out lot's of information, but some of the information I read actually suggested that the UN was not very "Christian like", and then again some links said they were, and others mentions nothing about Christianity.

So, I questioned myself and wondered how the UN "fit" into our time Biblically.

You will find I often ask "silly" questions only because they raise a point with me in my mind, so I thought I would ask this on in the BB.

I guess you could say it's the new Christian in me, I have lead a dangerous life, danger to my soul that is, and God has given me hope, and so, since then I have started to question most things in how it relates Biblically.

Things that were in my life before, and now new things, like the UN.

So, it was just a question I asked myself, and asked out loud. The question really has nothing to do with the previous thread other than that was what got me thinking of the question to start with. That is why I started a new thread because I didn't want to derail that one.

I do understand that and agree with you, but how does where the UN headquarters is fit into the scheme of things?

What I mean is, looking at it from a Biblically stand point, what does it matter where the UN is?

Hiya Joseph,

Under the beilf that things/places/people/organizations are either Christian or Not, then we can say that the UN is not?

Or is that too narrow of a guideline? I know it seems limited, but as a new Christian, I can see the difference in my life now and what it was before. So with me, it seems like either I am or I'm not a Christian.

I am just wondering if this would apply to Groups, and other things/places like an individual.

I generaly don't like seeing things either as "black" or "white" but it seems like that IS the way to look at things from a Christian point of view.

Is that wrong? What are your thoughts?
