Num 7:89 And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.
I believe Moses was speaking with Jesus the one whose blood would be poured out on the mercy seat in Heaven after He shed it on the Cross.
Num 8:17 For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.
18 And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
The firstborn son received the greater blessings and inheritance. While this applied to the Israelites, the firstborn in most families often incur the most responsibilities and at one time was looked up to by his siblings. Not so much today, sadly. I was the firstborn, but also the only child. While not a Jew, I do belong to God and may have been afforded many of the blessings and opportunities because of that status. I will only know for sure at the BEMA. In Christ, we all belong to God and receive many blessings and opportunities because of it. Often, we do not really understand our role and responsibilities so we miss great blessing and abundant fruit. While men and women have different roles we are use God's gifts in those roles as children of God who were bought with a price. We are not our own as also the firstborn of the Israelites. May we seek to walk in our calling under the Spirit's guidance. Maranatha!
